season 1, episode 1

GENEVIEVE AWOKE TO HER ALARM BLARING.Her pounding head begged for her to turn it off and go back to sleep, but she then remembered what day it was; today was the first day of her internship, the beginning of the rest of her life.
Gen sat up with a sigh, slapping her alarm clock off and squinting at the light pouring in from her cracked curtains.
Looking down, she remembered the night before; walking into the Emerald City Bar, sitting down, ordering a basket of fries, people watching for a while, watching on as a man with gorgeous hair approached a girl who wore a simple black cocktail dress, leaving the bar with a random guy she had talked to, the average sex that ended her night.
Leaving her bedroom, Gen was able to quickly deduce that the stranger had already left, a fact she was quite glad to know seeing as she couldn't even remember his name (she THINKS it started with an A?).
Gen quickly made herself a cup of coffee that she chugged before getting dressed and heading out the front door of the apartment. She had been living there for a little over a week now, therefore it was still filled to the brim with boxes of shit that Gen could probably live without.
⎯⎯⎯⎯
Genevieve stood frozen in front of Seattle Grace Hospital; to say that she was terrified would be the understatement of the century. This was the beginning of the rest of her life, the job she had been worked towards for as long as she could remember.
If her mother asked, Genevieve would say her hand was forced in the matter of choosing to pursue a career in surgery, but deep down, she knew this truly was what she wanted to do with her life. How could she not? It was all she heard about growing up.
Genevieve shook herself out of her thoughts when somebody came to a stop beside to her. Looking over, she saw George, who Gen just now realized was slightly shorter than herself. He glanced over, the two of them making quick eye contact before turning back towards the intimidating building.
As if their bodies were already synchronized, the two interns each took in a deep breath, before walking through the glass doors.
Growing up, you dream about what it would feel like to have different dreams come true, such as going to Disney World or stepping on stage to perform in front of an audience for the first time.
You imagine your face lighting up like a kid in a candy store, feeling happiness rush through your veins like never before. And although Genevieve had been to many different hospitals throughout the country, the way she felt standing in the entryway of Seattle Grace, watching doctors and nurses alike rushing past each other, was a feeling that Genevieve never could have prepared herself for; she was a little kid again and that hospital was her candy store.
