THE DEFINITION OF A STEREOTYPE is the fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a person or thing.

And whether they are widely known or not, there are stereotypes about everything. Like how surgeons are supposedly rude, arrogant and egomaniacal people, who are only in it for the money and could honestly care less about their patients.

And while Genevieve Fox had met her share of surgeons who fit into all of the above categories, she had also met the complete opposite.

Along with taking the Hippocratic oath, the young doctor also made a vow to try her best to not judge a person based off of one incident, knowing she would soon meet her fair share of idiots who come into the ER for reasons she would never begin to fathom.

But as she stood there next to Dr. Bailey at a crosswalk, listening to her whisper to herself about forgetting something and sounding a little crazy, it took a lot of willpower to not question her resident's sanity.

Gen heard someone approach them and turned to her right to see Dr. Shepherd stop next to her. He greeted her with a simple 'good morning' and a smile, which Gen returned, before he looked to her other side to see Bailey, and greeted her as well.

"Morning Dr. Bailey."

She quickly cut him off by holding her hand up.

"Shut up."

He looked to Gen for an explanation, just for her to shrug. He then looked back to Dr. Bailey with an amused look.

"You realize that I'm an attending and you're only a resident? So you work for me, right?"

The short woman just ignored the man and continued whispering to herself and shaking her head.

"I know I've forgotten something, something is happening today, I know I should know what it is, but I just can't..."

The light for the crosswalk changed and as Gen began to make her way to the other side of the street she heard Shepherd speak to her resident.

"Alright, nice talking to you Dr. Bailey."

One second Gen was crossing the street on her way to work, and the next she was roughly pulled back and fell to the ground.

She looked to where she had just been stood and saw a horde of bicyclists racing past. The intern looked to see who had pulled her out of the way and saw Dr. Shepherd.

"Are you all right? Does anything hurt?"

Gen shook her head at the man's questions, and whispered out an "I'm okay" before standing and brushing off the rocks that stuck to her clothes.

The group then crossed the street to the hospital, and all Gen could think about was how she had almost gotten severely injured, and, because of the psychos that almost ran her over, maybe she should change her policy of not judging people before getting to know them.
