(First-person)
The next morning, I awoke with a groan and shuffled around. But a stinging sensation shot up my leg, stopping my movements.

With the sleepiness gone, I shot up and immediately started to examine my leg to find the cause of the sting.

There were bandages all up and down my leg. My foot and ankle were wrapped in white gauze and there are bandaids up my legs and even some on my arm, probably to cover up smaller scratches.

I examined the rest of my body too. There was nothing too crazy though. My stomach had some gauze wrapped around it too, but everything else was small bandaids.

I must have hurt my ankle when I got caught in that net last night. Or maybe while I was running through the woods I sprained my ankle.

I let out a small sigh and went back to laying down when I noticed my surroundings.

Lifting myself once again, I examined the room around me.  I was in a small bedroom. There's a window and a side table under it beside the bed, and a dresser at the foot of it, a bookshelf, with three colored boxes in it, and a desk at the other end of the room parallel to the bed, a light purple rug on the floor, and two doors parallel to the window, one looked like a closet door.

"Where am I?" I whispered to myself.

Swinging my feet over the side of the bed, I sit up.

There's an aroma in the air, I think cinnamon. The candle on the desk must be where it's coming from.

I attempt to stand up, first on my good ankle, before tumbling down on my other one. There's a thump as I land on the hardwood floor, causing the door to swing open soon after.

A girl stands in the doorway, she's maybe around my age. Her teal hair is tied back in a messy ponytail with pointed ears that stick out, and she has elegant ebony eyes. She's wearing a pink dress with white stockings and boots, a surprisingly good mix. The light of the hallway flooded into the room, just barely illuminating her.

She stares at me befuddled for a moment as we blink at each other.

"Mom! He's awake!" She suddenly shouts into what I would assume is the hallway.

"I'll be there in a moment!" I hear a woman respond, sending a brief panic through me.

She turns her head back to me and raises her hand at shoulder level. I scrunch my eyes closed in fear, preparing myself for the worst.

But I felt nothing, except the floor disappearing under me and the mattress replacing it.

I open an eye, checking if I was safe, but I'm back on the bed. She rests her hand at her side as she leans against the door frame.

"How are you feeling?" She asks.

"I'm fine," I responded, "my ankle hurts a bit though."

"It's going to," She started, "Mom examined you earlier, using magic, of course, you strained your ankle. We think it'll be fine soon, we'd have a doctor look at you, but we aren't sure if we can trust you enough to take you into town," the teal-haired girl explained, "she also said that she accidentally dropped you while trying to get you out of the net. You took some damage around your stomach, does it hurt at all?"

"No, not at all," I shook my head.

"Good."

Silence fell over us, I began to notice how cold it was, so I wrapped myself in the blanket.

Soon, I heard footsteps come down the hall and a woman appeared behind the girl.

"Excuse me, Hailey," The woman, who sounded like the one from earlier, said.
