Light cussing (it was only once)!
Letting my hand slide off his arm, I notice an ever so faint shade of red on his cheeks. But I don't say anything, as I just assume it's the lighting.
Making my way towards the stairs I tried to focus on my breathing.
I can hear Micheal talking to a man and a woman downstairs.
"Just breath in and out and everything will be fine," I mutter to myself.
The voices stop as I start walking down the stairs, and once I reach the second landing, all their heads are turned to me.
Micheal smiles at me, "Hello, Luke, don't you look nice."
I look down at myself, it's not anything special really. Just a white t-shirt over a black long-sleeve shirt and some jeans with a leg cuffed over my bandages, similar to my usual style, not that I have much of one yet. I had tried to style my hair a bit differently, but I was having a lot of trouble so I just gave up in the end.
"Thank you!" I smile back despite not agreeing, "Should I go wait in the dining room or-"
"What is that doing here?" The man suddenly hissed.
My eyes widened in surprise. I had expected this, but it took him a little longer to realize than I had expected, so it caught me off guard.
The man has curly black hair and blue eyes. His eyes are narrowed with a look of hatred and disgust, and hints of fear.
"Called it."
"What do you mean?" Micheal looks at the man confused.
"Why are you housing a demon!" He hissed.
Micheal sighed, "Mr. Wickham, with all due respect, this is my wife's job."
Mr. Wickham shook his head, "You're fools for not killing him at sight!"
Backing up in fear, my eyes went wide again, and one of my feet found a step beside me.
"Luke couldn't hurt a fly," Michael said, though sounding more lighthearted than I'm sure he meant, "you have nothing to be afraid of."
"He's a demon!" Mr. Wickham shouted, "you know what they've done to elves! And to so many others too! It's dangerous to have them around!"
"I understand that, but I also know Luke well enough to say he wouldn't do anything to hurt anyone."
"How do you know that? Demons are known for being deceptive!"
"Mr. Wickham, my wife has to watch over him to know if she can trust him to be let out into society. And Shannon trusts him, so I do too. I know what I'm saying when I say he won't hurt anyone."
"You're fools, all of you," Mr. Wickham huffed, "fine, but I won't trust you for a minute, you got that?"
I nod vigorously, "I understand."
"He's right, you know."
"Shut up," I whispered.
"What was that? I couldn't hear you," Mr. Wickham glared at me.
"I, uh, I wasn't talking to you. Sorry."
"Mhm."
Finally making my way to the bottom of the stairs, I awkwardly make my way between them so I can go over to the dining room.
But I'm stopped by the sound of running.
"Bethany! Don't run on the stairs, you could get hurt!" Hailey shouted trying to quickly make it down the stairs to her sister
