Max woke up almost instantly as his alarm went off. He quickly shut of the ringing and checked on Tul who was still peacefully sleeping.

The kiss of the previous night came to mind and he touched his own lips recalling the sweet sensation. The feel of Tul's soft lips still fresh in his mind. Smiling to himself he silently got out of bed so as not to wake up his sleeping neighbour.

He quickly had a bath all the while wondering if the kiss meant Tul was ready to take the next step. He dressed as quietly as possible and went to prepare tea for Tul and coffee for himself.

While the tea steeped he quickly stepped out. Walking through the light mist he went to his little garden.

The sky was bathed in gold as it prepared itself for the first rays of the morning sun.

As Max went from one rose bush to the next he wondered which rose would be perfect to tell Tul what the kiss meant to him.

Max could flirt and had a whole repertoire  of cheesy one liners but right now he couldn't find the right words that would convey how he felt without overwhelming Tul. Last thing he needed was to make Tul feel pressured or for him to regret making the first move.

He checked on his beautiful blood red bloom. But that would be too loud he thought. He would save it for the day they declared their love.

Next he checked on the exotic Blue bud which was his pride. But it didn't suit the delicate mood. The dark mauve rose in full bloom with its hues of magnificent blues was indeed for something more passionate and would be too overwhelming for a first kiss.

He lingered at the buttery yellow china rose with its delicately pink tinged tips but that didn't strike a cord either. It was a beauty he thought as he brushed his fingertip tenderly over its dew kissed petals. But it wouldn't really convey the way he felt.

Just then the first rays of sun topped the horizon. And the little drops of dew sparkled like a field of diamonds as they caught the sunbeams. As Max turned to admire the breathtaking sight his eyes fell on the long stemmed blush pink rose which beckoned to him shyly. It seemed to wink at him naughtily reminding him of Tul when he was trying to be flirty.

He grinned and cutting a palm length stem made his way back to the kitchen. He quickly assembled the cups on a tray and the delicate bud in a small vase, went to wake up Tul.

But Tul was already up and had even showered. When Max entered the room Tul was standing in front of the floor length mirror combing his still damp hair.

"Good morning..." Tul trilled with a smile at Max. "I was just about to come find you."

"Good morning to you too." Max smiled back. He felt just a little disappointed that he had not been fast enough to serve Tul tea in bed. "Umm I will just go wait outside. Then we can have tea and coffee together."

Max turned to make his way outside but Tul's words stopped him.

"We could have it on the veranda."

Tul went to the glass fronted wall and threw open the door which opened on to the rustic wooden patio which overlooked the backyard slopping down to the little cliff overhang.

In the meantime Max placed the tray on the desk and handed the mug of tea to Tul.

Tul stood with his back resting against the door jamb and Max followed suit leaning against the opposite door frame.

Tul took a sip of his tea and watched Max over the rim of his Mug.

"Is that rose for me?" Tul questioned, his face expressionless.
