"Kao!" Max remarked weakly. "What are you doing here?" He asked taking a deep breath.
"Are you okay? You almost passed out!" Kao remarked in concern.
Max straightened and stepped away from Kao. But Kao held on to his arm to support him.
"Yes I am okay. The heat must have got to me." Max replied his speech just a little strained, as if he was having trouble talking.
"Come on let me take you to the hospital."
"No! I am okay." Max was struggling with the phone in his hand. "Please can you call Gulf." He requested his breathing a little laboured.
"Look just sit in the car and I will call Gulf for you okay." Kao was worried. Max didn't look so good. His face was red and perspiration was dripping from his face like rain.
Max didn't protest when Kao and his driver helped him inside the huge black van with its tinted windows. The car AC was running full blast and Max rested his pounding head against the plush seat of the van and closed his smarting eyes.
Kao got in next to him and closed the door. He instructed the driver to drive while he fished out a packet of wet wipes and started wiping the beads of sweat from Max's brow.
"Gulf, please take me home..." Max muttered. "Want to go home."
Kao hesitated. He pondered if he should call Gulf or take Max to his own place. He knew when Max woke up and saw that he had not called Gulf he might get angry. And the last thing he currently needed was to make Max angry.
He took Max's phone but it was password protected. He took out his own phone and dialed Gulf.
Gulf picked up after the 4th ring. "What do you want P'Kao?" He asked without preliminaries.
"Hi Gulf! How are you?" Kao greeted.
"I am sure you didn't call to enquire about my health. If you are looking for boss he is not here." Gulf replied flatly.
"I know, he is here with me." Kao blurted.
"Excuse me!"
"I found him on the back road of the main market. He was almost unconscious. I was going to take him home but he insisted on calling you." Kao explained as best as he possibly could.
Gulf was surprised and asked a couple of questions, before telling Kao to take Max to his new home. "...You get him there, I am on my way. I will meet you there." Gulf finished.
"Okay!"
"P'Kao!" Gulf called down the phone suddenly. "Are you sure he was alone and nobody else was there around him?"
"Yes, he was alone!"
"Hmmm! And there is no need to tell P'Foei or P'Great about this. Please!" Gulf requested in what could be described as a polite tone by Gulf's standard. 🙄🤣
