My name is Laura O'Hara and I am 25 years old. When I was only 5 years old, I was taken from my family by a German group for special experimentations. It's a long story about my time there, so, might as well begin at the start.

When I first got kidnapped, I tried my hardest to fight back to get home. After days of fighting, they told me if I don't calm down they'll go back and kill my parents. Even being as young as I was, I still knew I didn't want them to die.

For the next 8 years I was there little guinea pig. Anytime their scientists had a 'breakthrough' they'd use me for human trials. Then, something changed one day. One of the lead security men came to escort me to the lab, like he did every time, but he was hesitant to walk me there.

"What's wrong?" I asked the man who normally just grabs my arm and pulls me down the hall.

"They're saying they've actually got something this time. They think it'll work." He responded and shook his head. Finally, he grabbed my arm and we started walking.

The short walk felt like it was in slow motion. I was scared because typically he doesn't say much to me. When we got to the lab, it looked a little different. He threw me in and I fell to the ground. When I looked up, it was a concrete walled room with a single scepter in the center. It was glowing.

"Good morning Miss Laura. Today, the only thing we ask of you is to touch the stone in the scepter. Then you will be finished." The scientist said over the speakers.

I was confused. Why was it a big deal to just touch a stone?

"What is it?" I ask loudly so they can hear me.

"It doesn't matter. Do what we say."

I stood up and step closer to the scepter. When I get closer, it starts to glow brighter, causing me to squint my eyes a little. It was enchanting and beautiful. Part of me was beyond excited to touch it, but in the back of my head I figured it would cause trouble.

Slowly, I reached my hand out and leaned towards the stone. I could feel the eyes of the scientist looking at me through the two way mirror. Again, as I continued to get closer, it kept getting brighter and brighter. Until I started feeling it pulling me to it. Even if I tried to pull my hand back, I was yanked towards it.

All of a sudden, the stone was resting in my hand. I could feel the burning in my palm but I continued to stare at it. Then, when I started to realize what was happening, I realized my feet were no longer on the ground.

A blue aura was coming out of my palms and body. I looked at myself in the mirror and stared until after a moment, the class broke, revealing the scientist in shock.

They stared at me and watched as I was lowered back to the ground. I could feel energy thoughout my entire body, like the stone was a part of me. When I looked back at my hand, the stone was engulfed into my flesh. It literally became a part of me.

The pain was excruciating. The stone settled and was just barely sticking out of my palm. Then, everything stopped. No more blue aura, no more weird feeling inside of me, and no more pain in my head.

"Put your hands up and drop the stone!" The security shouts and pushes the scientist out of the way.

I threw my hands up and the stone stayed right where it was, attached inside my hand. The security guards kept shouting and I wasn't focused on them, until I heard the sound of their guns firing. With one thought, the bullets stopped right in front of me and the blue aura came back. I pulled my hand into a fist and the bullets were smushed into a small ball and fell to the ground.

The security guards froze and I looked at them. That man was right earlier. This experiment did work. I looked at my hand and faced it to the ground, willing myself off the ground. I was flying and it was the coolest experience I've ever had.

It didn't take long for me to get out of the hydra base in Germany with my new telekinetic powers. As soon as I got out, I burst into the fresh air and a smile grew on my face. I was free at last. My first instinct was to go home.

Traveling was easy, since I could just fly wherever I wanted. Part of me was hoping I was going the right way, but I could feel myself being drawn in one direction, towards home.

After a while, my feet touched down in the familiar city of New York. I walked around for a bit, trying to find my way through the city I was taken from so long ago. Everyone was giving me weird looks, it must've been obvious that I was out of place.

When I turned a corner, I was startled by a tall bald man and a red head standing in front of a bunch of black SUVs. I held my hand up and the blue haze came out of me again.

"Wait!" The red head said and I froze for a moment, but kept myself prepared for anything. "We're here to help you."

I was very confused, because my whole life I've been exposed to so many hardships, so why should I believe somebody now.

"We saw you enter American airspace and tracked you up to right here. My name is Nick Fury and this is Natasha Romanoff." The man said and I just listened, staying completely silent.

"We heard of you being taken years ago and figured it was by hydra. Your father worked for us." Nick says and my eyes grow wide.

"You know my dad!" I say and step closer. Everyone behind them lifts their guns and I jump back, prepared to stop their bullets. "Where is he?" I whispered.

Natasha and Nick look at each other and her face falls. I picked up on it and realized something must be wrong.

"Where is he?" I say again and felt the stone in my hand start to burn a little from holding back my powers.

"I'm really sorry." Nick says and looks at me.

I could quite literally feel my heart break inside of my chest. The stone in my hand was burning like fire now.

"My mom?" I ask and bite my lip. Natasha looks at me and shakes her head slowly.

With one single movement, I let out a loud scream and drop to my knees. A burst of blue came out of my chest and shatters the car windows behind Nick and Natasha. With one hand movement, Nick notified the man to hold their fire, letting me get the pain out of my chest.

Once I calmed down, Natasha stepped closer to me and got on her knees next to me. I looked up to her and the stone finally stopped burning after releasing the power.

"We really want to help you. Your dad was one of the most respected men in shield. Let us be there for you." She whispers and gently touches my shoulder.

I look at her and try to see if she's lying. Without realizing it, I could see memories from inside her head. I can feel what she's feeling and thinking. When I realize what I'm seeing, I look deeper and found that she wasn't lying to me. She wanted to help.

"Okay." I whispered. "I'll go with you."

Natasha smiles and helps me to my feet. I adjust the small gown hydra made me wear and followed her to a vehicle. She sits with me in the back, while Nick is in the passenger seat.

"You can call me Nat from now on. Call him Fury. We're two of the leaders of shield." Nat continues to talk and I tried to listen but it was hard.

While driving through the city, I could see buildings destroyed and being rebuilt. It was like a war happened right here in the city. Some of the buildings I recognized, but couldn't remember what they were.

"What happened here?" I ask cutting off Natasha.

"It's a long story." Fury says and looks at me over his shoulder.

"I got time." I say back and Nat smiles at me before beginning to tell me the story.
