Chapter 17: The Ball

Naofumi Pov

"Wait why are we going to the castle?" I ask. I walk up to Isabella who was sharpening her daggers. I shiver a bit since she reminds me so much of my mother.

"The king has invited us." That all she said before looking at me giving me a gentle smile.

"Will they attack us again?" I ask. I didn't like any of them. Maybe they attack and take my new friends away? I didn't know I was shaking.

"Hey don't worry. I won't let that happen" I felt her warm and kind of cold hand on my shoulder. It was a nice feeling.

"So all of you get ready" she claps her hand together and we got in line.

"Hey don't worry Naofumi. I'll protect you" I turn to look at Rhaptalia who was holding Kasel. She walks up to me and hugs me. I could feel Kasel nuzzled my stomach which I giggled at.

"Alright everyone let me do your hair and we start heading to the castle" Isabella came to us with a comb and scissors.

We all gulp.

Time skip

The soldier let us through glaring at us. I and Rhaptalia back away from the window and sit closely with Isabella.

"Was it a good session to leave Kasel with Erhard?" I ask looking up at her.

"He be fine don't worry about it." she waves me off. I was still nervous and scared but Isabella gave me a big smile. I felt creepy out but I enjoy it. I hugged her and she parted my head. She turns to Rhaptalia and patted her head. She gave a small smile.

'Just like mom'

I let go of Isabella and grab Rhaptalia hand.

"Don't worry if their rude will beat them up" I raise my fist to the air. She looks shocked but soon nodded and gave evil smile.

"Alright," she raises her hand to the hair.

The carriage soon stops and we all got out. Isabella walked us inside the castle and we're escorted by knights to the ballroom. They push open the big door and we see so many people wearing big dresses and fancy tuxes.

The chattered soon stops and everyone looks at us. I felt myself getting nervous but I shake it away. I see from the corner of my eyes that Rhaptalia looked nervous. I grab her hand and gave her a big smile. She stops and looks at me smiling at me. And we both started walking proudly into the ballroom.

I can hear people gasping but we didn't care. I heard Isabella giggle and say "so cute" we both blush at the comment and gave nervous laughter.

"It the devil hero" I see a woman with red hair walk io to us.

'It Malty!'

I glare at her but she just snickers. I soon see the annoying guy I hate so much.

"Why is the devil of the shield here?" Motoyasu looking at me with disgust in his eyes.

"Oh, it's the loudmouth that can't shut up." I say and crossed my arms. Rhaptalia copied me and we both give a 'you heard what I said look'

"What did you say you brat!?" Motoyasu said. He grabbed me by the arm yank me to him. I glare at him and he glares back at me. Isabella came forward and smack Motoyasu's hand. He yelps and grabs it and glares at her. He stops and soon flips his hair and walk towards Isabella.

"Hello, cute lady why not join me?" Motoyasu said grab Isabella's hand and gave a wink. She scoffs and pulls her hand away.

"I'm pretty sure I'm older than you" she glares down at him. His eyes widened but he shakes his head and gives a charming smile.
