reemergence (bucky story)

they don't stop

she stands there for a moment, looking at you. at first you're nervous but you soon see the relief in her eyes that you're ok. you begin to walk towards her but clint stands up, blocking your way.

you stop in your tracks and look up at him, the only emotion you can read is anger.

"move aside big guy." nat says pushing him back towards his spot on the couch, "im fine."

you sigh in relief and smile at her before she wraps her arms around you.

"you're ok?!" you ask softly.

"im ok," she reassures you. you close your eyes and stay in her arms for a while before you finally open them and make eye contact with clint.

"im sorry," you mouth at him. he nods at you and finally sits down. nat pulls you back so that your arms length away from her.

"but lets just try not to do that again," she says, smiling and winking at you.

"ill try," you smile back. she pulls you over to the spot next to where she was sitting so that you're between her and thor.

"wait if when the smoke hit the team, they saw their worst fears, bucky how were you walking right through it?" peter asked innocently.

"i see my worst fears when i fall asleep at night, nothing i haven't seen before." he said dismissively but sympathetically. 

as soon as tony saw the sappy moment was over, he continued with his party plans.

"come on guys, its the fourth of july! we'll have an open bar, fireworks, formal attire, a couple friends over... we won't go parading down the streets."

"although steve don't be surprised if you get a call asking you to lead a parade," sam remarks, laughing at steve who only rolls his eyes. 

"please it will be funnnnnn," tony begged the group.

"sure lets do it," steve finally said.

"yayyyyyyy!" tony cheered excitedly, "alright so attire is red, white, and blue of course but suits and formal dresses please and ill need everyone out of our party area for the next two days, thank you." before he could continue talking his phone rang,

"hello? oh yea its on, so ill need those..." his voice trailed off as he walked out of the room.

"welcome to the team y/n, where we have parties for no apparent reason because it makes Tony happy," banner chuckled.

"its even more fun when you're too young to drink," peter whispered sarcastically.

"uh, when have we ever stopped you?!" sam asked, hearing what he said. the team laughed before wanda threw out an idea,

"anyone up for monopoly?"

"i promised aunt may i wouldn't stay over this time but ill see you at the party," peter said as he swung out the door.

"im going to go make sure tony doesn't burn the house down in fireworks," rhody said, following the footsteps of where tony had departed.

"well, of course ill play darling," vision said, placing a kiss on her head.

"ill go get the game!" nat said, winking at wanda.

"im always down for game night," scott said excitedly. 

"sam and i are in," steve said. sam raised an eyebrow at steve before steve continued, "you gotta stick with me dude." sam laughed and rolled his eyes but agreed.

"clint you're playing too," nat said as she returned with the box in her hands.

"oh fine if you want me to," clint replied, smiling at her,
