the fourth rolled around sooner than you wanted it to.

soon tony had party planners all over the house. you had tried to stay in bed for the morning but eventually by the late afternoon you got up to see what was causing so much noise. as you headed down the stairs you were passed by at least five people with clipboards that you had never seen before. as you made your way into the living room you heard someone calling your name. you turned to see tony waving you over to him. you raised an eyebrow and hesitantly made your way to him.

"hey i need your opinion, which cake do you think steve wants?"

"cake?" you questioned.

"yea for his birthday. i know he said he didn't want the party to be about him but we can at least have him blow out some candles right?!"

"it's his birthday?"

"uh... yea, now which cake?"

you took a second to look between the two before you picked the more casual cake. it was vanilla with white frosting and some blueberries and raspberries on the top opposed to the red white and blue three tiered cake with mini flags on it.

"really?! i would've wanted to other one..."

"that's why i went with the casual one, more like steve, less like you."

"ahh good point! thanks, got to go!" he said before marching off after some people discussing the ice sculpture.

you rolled your eyes and made your way to the gym, assuming that's where you would find steve.

sure enough, he was in the back by the punching bags.

you waved at clint who was doing some sort of yoga pose as you made your way to steve.

you leaned against one of the bags as you let him finish. it took him a couple minutes but he finally noticed you leaning there and stopped punching.

"hey! how long have you been standing there?!"

you laughed slightly, "not long!"

"ok good, i didn't want you to think i was ignoring you or something. what's up?!"

"happy birthday!" you said quietly.

he rolled his eyes and laughed, "how'd you find out?"

"tony."

"ugh that little-"

"why don't you want me to know?"

"its not just you, don't worry, im not a big fan of celebrating my birthday."

"can i ask why?"

"i feel like i've had a decent amount..."

"ahhh that's right. i forgot youre secretly an old man."

he laughs, "yes, yes i am." he paused and decided to unwrap his fists and lean against the bag like you had been doing, "you excited for the party tonight?"

you simply shrugged.

"well then, be glad he didn't throw you a welcome party... he loves those."

"oh god no! please tell him i do not and will not need one of those."

"noted. anyway, i need to go pull a suit out of the back of my closet and steam it or something, see you later!" he says sweetly before walking away.

you turn to see scott slightly disappointed sitting on the stairs. you walk over and sit next to him,

"what's up?!"

"i have loki duty before the party starts so i won't have time to get ready," he sighs.
