After Sandra dropped that bombshell the alpha had them come to the pack house to explain. Selene had been even more restless since reaching the pack house with the heightened smell of her third mate.
‘Well you sure have spun an interesting tale but I’m reluctant to believe you.’ The alpha said calmly after Sandra explained everything that had happened to her over the past few days.
‘I understand your reluctance alpha but I can prove it.’
‘How?’
‘I have certain powers that come with being blessed by the moon goddess. I can read minds and control the elements among other things. Also when I shift my wolf is gold with silver, bronze and copper patches. When I shift back I’m fully clothed.’ She explained.
‘Well do something simple first.’ He moved a cup of water in front of her on the desk. ‘Make the water ripple.’ Sandra just smiled and made the water rise out of the cup like she had with the river the day before. After making sure everyone had seen the water floating she darted it towards Jason so it splashed him in the face. Everyone laughed. Even the alpha chuckled.
‘Thanks babe.’ Jason grumbled but at the sight of Sandra laughing chuckled too.
‘Hold on I’ll get rid of it.’ She laughed. Going quiet in concentration Sandra made the water warm up until it was steam raising off of him.
‘Well that was a bit more extravagant than I expected but it seems you’re telling the truth. I’ll call my son in and we’ll see if you’re right about him being your mate.’ Just after the alpha finished talking the office door slammed open making Sandra jump.
‘Dad what’s that amazing smel-‘ The man said before freezing, his eyes on Sandra who was sat between Cole and Jason. ‘Mine.’ He growled before pulling Sandra into his arms and slamming his lips to hers. Fireworks exploded all over Sandra’s body. Selene was going crazy in her head. Faintly Sandra thought this was the first kiss she’d shared with any of her mates. Then she couldn’t think at all. After what felt like hours but also no time at all, someone cleared their throat bringing Sandra back to reality. She pulled away making him growl.
‘I see you were right about Aaron.’ The alpha smiled. ‘I’m glad he’s finally found his mate.’
‘What do you mean she was right about me and why are there rouges in the pack house?’ Aaron asked getting angry about the rouges
‘I’m Sandra Michaels. This is Cole Parker and Jason-‘ she looked at Jason waiting for him to fill them in.
‘Martin.’ He supplied.
‘Martin. I’m the Lupus Lunae which means I have three mates. You, Cole and Jason.’
Aaron started shaking before he lunged at Cole and Jason. He didn’t even make it half way before Sandra froze him in mid-air.
‘Aaron, you need to listen to me. It’s important to the entire werewolf species that you don’t try and kill Cole and Jason.’ Sandra used a calming tone.
‘What is going on?’ he growled.
‘Don’t use that tone with me.’ She snapped, surprising everyone. ‘The lupus lunae is the wolf blessed by the moon goddess to fight against the sun god and save werewolves. The sun god gave her three mates to fight with each other. That means you three. If you fight, all werewolves die.’
‘Well that’s a dick move.’ Someone said from the doorway startling Sandra so she dropped Aaron.
The girl in the doorway laughed. ‘Thank you for dropping my idiot brother. That was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I’m Alice by the way.’ She grinned at Sandra. ‘You’re the lupus lunae, Sandra.’
‘I am yes. How did you know my name?’ Sandra questioned.
‘She’s the custos or guardian. She’s meant to protect you.’ Jason earned some funny looks at his comment. ‘What I told you I know a lot about the lupus lunae.’
‘Yeah but how did you know about me?’ Alice asked confused.
‘You guard the lupus lunae. That’s all that’s mentioned in my mum’s story.’
‘Oh, well, I have similar powers to the lupus lunae in that I can control the elements and can read minds. I don’t have telekinesis though, which bugs me by the way.’
‘What’s telekinesis?’ Cole asked.
Sandra explained. ‘It’s the ability to move things with your mind.’
Cole looked confused still. ‘How did you know that?’
‘Just because I was treated like I was stupid doesn’t mean I am,’ she said shyly.
‘I didn’t mean that baby. I was surprised because it’s an unusual word. I can’t see a lot of people knowing what it means.’ Cole had dropped to his knees in front of her chair to apologise.
‘Why don’t we get back to the matter at hand.’ The alpha stated taking everyone’s attention off of Cole and Sandra.
Selene spoke up. ‘Aske Alice if she’s found her mate.’
‘Why?’ Sandra asked.
‘Just ask.’
‘Fine.’ Sandra entered back into the conversation. ‘Alice have you found your mate yet?’
‘No I haven’t but I don’t really want one. They’ll just get in the way of what I’m meant to do.’ She said.
‘But your mate is the most important thing in your life.’ Sandra said in disbelief.
‘Not for me and you. The most important thing in my life is protecting you, which in turn, saves werewolves. A mate will always come second to saving our kind.’
Sandra could understand why Alice felt like this but she wouldn’t have given up any of her mates for anything. Looking at them she took in their similarities and differences. Jason was fun loving and cheerful. She watched him flick Cole in the back of the head and look innocent when he turned around to glare. Cole, when he wasn’t being flicked, was trying to pay attention to the conversation Alice, Aaron and the alpha had gone into. Cole would have made a good alpha to the Shadow Cave pack if Sandra’s parents hadn’t been so cruel. Aaron was focused on arguing with Alice and their dad about why having a mate is the best thing in the world. Even though she had only known him for a short period of time, Sandra couldn’t imagine not having him in her life like Alice was suggesting. Life was hard enough as it was, without refusing your mate.
