They had been walking through the woods for a few hours when it started to get dark and they decided to set up camp.

Ten minutes later, when her arms were full of dry wood she heard a growl from the clearing.

‘Mate.’ Selene howled.

Sandra dropped the wood and ran full speed back. She was there in seconds and when she saw what was happening she froze. There in the clearing was Cole in his silver wolf attacking a bronze wolf that was bigger than him by about a foot making the bronze wolf about eight foot.

When Sandra looked at the bronze wolf she knew instantly that this was Jason. This was her second mate.

‘Cole! Stop! It’s Jason! It’s the second one.’ She yelled running to them. At hearing her they both froze. Cole at the words. Jason at the sound of his mate.

Jason ran towards Sandra and stopped in front of her without taking his eyes off of Cole. When Cole stepped towards them Jason growled making Sandra laugh.

‘It’s ok Jason, Cole would never hurt me. You can shift back now Cole.’ Cole shifted immediately and pulled on some clothes from his bag.

‘I’m no threat. You can shift back too, Jason’ he said making Jason growl until Sandra put a calming hand on his back and walked around him.

‘It’s ok you can shift. We have some clothes for you.’ She said as Cole handed her some basketball shorts and a t-shirt.

Jason reluctantly shifted back still watching Cole. Jason was tall around 6 foot 3. He had sandy blonde hair that was in a messy style. His eyes were brown almost bronze and he had a slight amount of muscle, more than Cole but not by much.

‘What are you doing with my mate and how did you know my name?’ He asked. It was clear he held authority before he became a rouge.

‘We have a lot of explaining to do but first we need to get to fire wood I dropped. Jason you’re with me by the way my names Sandra.’ She said then walked back the way she’d come, Jason hot on her heels.

‘How did you know my name?’ He asked her again after taking her hand.

‘That is part of what Cole and I need to explain. But while we’re alone I need you to promise me that whatever happens you don’t attack Cole. It’s important.’

‘I won’t start a fight with him but I’m not going to back down if he starts one.’ He stated.

‘If that’s all I’m going to get then I’ll take it’ She found the pile of wood she’d dropped but Jason wouldn’t let her pick it up. With Jason carrying the wood they went back to the clearing. It took them about ten minutes to walk back but when they’d got there Cole had caught six fish from the river at the south side of the clearing and had pulled out the double sleeping bag that was in one of the backpacks they’d taken with them.

‘You’re not in the sleeping bag pup.’ Jason growled at Cole when they walked into the clearing.

‘Jason play nice. You’re going to be spending the rest of your life with Cole.’

‘What?’ Jason looked confused.

‘First remember what you said in the woods. Now what do you know about the lupus lunae?’

‘About as much as there is to know. My mother used to tell me the story every night. She believed he was real.’

‘Well your mother was right about them being real but it’s not a man. It’s me.’ Jason looked unconvinced.

‘Great my mate is gullible.’ He thought. Sandra heard it perfectly.

‘Hey I’m not gullible!’ She exclaimed ‘And it’s new to me too so don’t ask for anything big when you ask me to prove it.’ She said reading his mind again.
