It all felt like slow motion, My brother came out from behind Nia, Blaise, and Theo and was walking furiously to Draco, "Is this the one giving you those fucking bruises?" Liam says and looks at me with this look in his eye that I've never seen before.

"Just leave him alone," I say while walking closer to him, he shakes his head "I can't believe you Malfoy" I know I've said that they used to be friends and now I can indefinitely say that they used to be friends.

"I told you to protect her, what do you do instead?" He waves his arm over to me while still walking towards Draco, I could tell Liam may have had too much to drink. "Liam, stop" I reach for his arm but he shoves me away knocking me to the ground. Theo lifts me and pulls me away, "Trust me, he fucking deserves this" He whispers in my ear, but I pull away.

"Maybe he does, but if my parents see my brother best someone up, he's dead" I snap and walk towards my brother once again, "Liam, what will father do if he fucking sees you like this," I say calmly while he turns to me and grabs my wrist then takes me inside.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He locks the door behind us then lets go of my wrist, "Because I was handling it" I say feeling my wrist with my hand. "With all those bruises no you weren't just fucking handling it," He says shaking his head waving his arm towards my neck, I lift my hand to feel my neck. Shit, the makeup came off my neck. "Is he the one giving you the bruises?" Liam says while ruffling his hair with his hand angrily.

"I-" Lie. It'll be over with. "Just tell me the truth Jess" He looks at me seriously. "Yes, but I can handle myself" I turn around and reach for the doorknob but Liam stops me. "So you can handle Draco but-" He cuts himself off "What the hell were you about to say?" I take a step closer, I continue.

"So then I guess I can handle the Carrows too huh," I say a little louder than expected, "That wasn't what I was going to say you know that" He takes my hand. "Do I?" I say behind my back and leave the house to see the gold sparks in the sky.

"Why did you take his side?" Theo walks up from behind me, "I didn't I couldn't risk my parents seeing that" I shake my head while I wave my arm towards my parents.

"I thought you-" I was so sick of this shit, "It's hard to stay away from someone when you are in the same house as them," I say and shake my head then sit down on the stone bench, I look up and see the sparks in the air. It's New Years'.

I slip on my silk pajamas and walk down the hall into Nia's room, "Can I sleep with you tonight?" I say while leaning against the wooden door frame. "Please" She smiles, while pulling the blankets off of her.

"I don't want to talk about tonight, all I want to do is sleep" I sigh while pulling the covers over myself. "Said and done" She puts a finger over her mouth as if to shush herself. I close my eyes and think of how nice it is without drama.

...

I wake up earlier than Nia and walk downstairs to see Draco awake and Narcissa awake making tea, "Good morning dear, would you like tea?" She nods to the steaming cup in her hands, I nod then sit down on the other side of Draco.

"Good morning" I sigh and rest my head upon my hands. "Did your brother leave?" He asks while looking ahead towards me. I nod and close my eyes. "Did he beat you up instead?" He continues while chuckling.

"Not funny" I sigh while Narcissa hands me a cup of tea, "Thank you" I half-smile and put the cup to my lips feeling the warmth fill me. "So that's a yes?" He takes his cup of tea then takes a sip while still looking at me.

"No, Instead I may have just made it worse between us- Can we not talk about this right now? I'm fucking tired" I say as I look back up at him feeling his eyes stare into my soul.
