Chapter 6

When I woke up again, I was in my room. It was dark. I sat up. My back hurt like hell. I threw my blanket off my legs and stood up. My legs were a bit wobbly and my body a little bit stiff. I looked down my body. Nothing special. Just me in my night cloths. Because of the emptiness in my stomach, I decided to travel to the dining hall in hope to find a piece of bread.
After some hallways, I found myself in front of the dining hall. I opened the door. "Oh hey, Levi." Levi sat there alone with a cup of tea. He looked at me and stared. He slowly stood up and hobbled to me. "Levi..what's wrong with your leg..?" he didn't answered, instead he caressed my cheek before pinching it. "You lucky maggot.." he spoke quietly and hugged me. I returned his hug. "For a moment, I thought I lost you..." he whispered in my ear. Lost? Oh yeah...the female titan...the forest..Eld...
"I..I'm.. sorry.." my voice was shaking. "Sssh, I'm here." whispered Levi. I nodded softly. "Levi, is Eren okay?" "Yeah." "Are..you okay..?" Silence filled the room until he broke it: "Don't worry about me, I'm fine." "Are you sure?" "Yes." "Levi, I can tell that you're not okay. I'm worried about you.." He broke the hug and made a distance between us. "I told you already, I'm fine." "Then why do you hobble? This doesn't seem fine to me." "Got injured when I rescued Eren. Happy now?" Levi looked me in the eyes and sighed. "Levi..I'm worried.. " I whispered and looked on the floor: "Ya know I love you, Levi, and only want the best for you.." Levi turned around and walked to his tea.
"Go, get some rest." he said coldly and sat down. "Yeah.." I turned away and opened the door. "(y/n)." Levi called out for me: "How did they die..?" I stopped. I felt how the small tears began to roll down my cheek, chasing after each other. "Gunther's..neck got slide by a unknown soldier. Eld got b..biten in half. Petra got kicked on to the tree and slide down to the ground. And Oluo got kicked in the back." I told him. My voice still was a bit shaking and cracked here and there. Without looking at him, I left the room. Stupid Levi, I just wanted some bread and not be remembered of my dead comrades..
On my way to my room I crashed into another body. "Sorry.." I mumbled. "It's okay." said Mike's voice. He put a hand on my head and pressed it on his body. More tears rolled down my face. He stood there and patted my head.

I sat on my horse. I asked Erwin if I could join Mike to watch over the cadets. He allowed it. He first wanted me for the capture of the female titan but after I explained that I really needed some distant from Levi, he let me. I still was kind of hurt of that night.
I felt eyes burning into my skin. I looked around and found Levi's eyes staring at me. He stood behind a window and stared down on me. Normally I would give him a goodbye kiss on his cheek but not this time. He didn't even got a goodbye wave. Not gonna lie, I felt terrible wrong. I broke our eye contact. We soon made us on the way to the location. The ride was okay. I talked with Connie and Sasha. That made my mood a bit better and the ride less boring.

I walked through the mess of cadets. "I really want to know how they will react when you walk off." said Reiner. I stopped at their table. "Are you guys planning on walking off?" I asked the small group. "We're bored, (y/n)." replied Sasha and let her head fall on the table. I chuckled quietly. "I know. I also find it boring here. So if someone here wants to walk off I will pretend that I heard nothing." I gave them a smile. Suddenly Sasha got up. "Footsteps..I hear imminent footsteps.!" "Don't talk shit." "But it's true!" "Sasha, calm down." I tried to soothe her. Nanaba opened the window: "Are you all here?" Everyone stared at Nanaba who came in through the window. "500 meters south are titans. They are walking towards us." Nanaba explained: "Get on your horses. We don't have enough time to let you put on your ODM gears." She went through the window again. I followed her. "Wall rose is really broken..?" I asked them. "Seems like it..." answered Nanaba. She fell to the roof. "This is the day we're mankind lose.." she said. Mike glance at her. "No, mankind will not lose until they stop fighting." said Mike: "I feel guilty for the cadets. Thanks to us, they have to fight without their gears. " I looked on the cadets. Everyone grabbed their horse. "Me too. If we hadn't suspected them, they wouldn't be helplessly fighting against titans." I agreed. "You guys are right." Nanaba stood up: "I shouldn't cry in front of the cadets."

Our troop split into four groups: a North, a West, a South and a East team. I went with the north team. At that time I didn't knew that Mike went back.
"This village isn't evacuate." told us Sasha. "Alright..I do it. Is this the last one?" replied... I..I forgot his name. "No, there's still my home village." answered Sasha. "Okay, I'm coming with you." I said. Sasha smiled at me and nodded.
Sasha rode in front of me. We didn't talk. She seemed to be deep in her thoughts and I didn't want to get on her nerves. Suddenly she stopped and looked at the ground. I followed her eyes. "Footprints?" I mumbled to myself. "They came that far?!" she yelled shocked. She then looked at the village in front of us. "Is that..the new village?" she asked quietly: "No one probably can live there.." Her face saddened. "Hey, Sasha, we won the battle of Trost. We can win this one as well." I gave her a smile. She returned my one with a sad smile. She looked back at the village. "Let's go, (y/n)."

I checked out one of the first houses of the village. This one was quite empty. They probably escaped already. On a table was a family picture. I took it in my hands to further inspection. It was a picture of a small family. Two children, parents and a grandmother. I never met my grandmother and mom never told me anything about her. I didn't even know who my father was. Every time I asked mom about it she answered with "It's not important.". But she told me once that my father was a kind man. I sighed and put the picture back. I wish I had parents growing up. "(y/n)! There's a titan!!" I heard Sasha's yell. I ran out of the house and saw Sasha with a bow and some arrows. She was aiming at the titan. I ran towards them. She shot the titan in the eye. The titan grabbed her. I shot my hooks in the titan and fly as fast as I could. I slide into the titan's neck. The titan began to vanishing. "Sasha! Are you okay?" I asked her. "Where were you?! I screamed your name more than three times!" "I'm sorry...was too deep in my thoughts." I gave her a sheepish smile. "Let's go." she replied. We heard horse steps next to us. "Sasha?!"

Sasha introduced me to her father. I rode with them. I had the desire to join the south team and help them with the wall but I didn't felt well to leave the villagers alone. They were many and where's a lot of humans there's also titans. "And? How often did Sasha stole ya meat already?" asked me Sasha's father. "Dad!" Sasha shouted. Her father laughed.
