I'd been so side-tracked that I forgot that the D'Amelio's were still amidst my presence. After a while, things calmed down Noah Beck and Dixie had entered my room together. "get out of our room, you intruder" Noah said. I stayed there and said, "no" as I stood my ground, staring at him with my angry face. Noah raised his fists at me, but luckily, I dodged them. He charged at me with his arm, I dodged him again.

This went on for a while but eventually, I opened the window and jumped out of the back, and climbed onto my roof. He followed me to the roof, just as I expected from Noah Beck. When he arrived at the top, I grabbed his shirt and pulled him towards me to say :

I pushed him back and dropped him to the asphalt in my backyard. He did not seem injured, nothing happened to him. But a few seconds later, he started glitching and yelling and then eventually disappeared.

I was shocked, is none of this real? Is this just a dream that I can't escape? I went back to the room and Dixie wasn't there anymore. I locked my door and checked under my mattress. I grabbed dixies phone and went back to TikTok. It had over a million likes and 10k comments. This was exactly how I planned it out to be. When I opened the comments, people said the nicest things ever to dixie. Even though she stole my house.

I got all the proof that I needed of other human life existing. I packed my backpack with needs from my room. I was contemplating whether I should bring Dixie's phone with me or not. But I decided her phone is still of use to me. So, I put her phone in my backpack. I went downstairs again and met Marc D'Amelio. He told me to leave the house, but that was exactly what I was planning to do. I opened the door and looked at my house for the last time to surrender my house to the D'Amelios.

I almost went through the door until I felt a vibration followed by a ringtone in my backpack. Dixie went behind me and said, "that is my ringtone." I stopped in my footprints, scared of whatever might happen to me. Dixie charged at me. So, I ran as fast as I could from the house. After a few minutes of running, I made it out.

I ran to the plaza because it has a bunch of places to eat, and I needed breakfast. I went to a boba place because I have never had boba tea before. Entering the store, it was very colorful. The walls had beautiful yet subtle gradients and black dots that represented the tapioca pearls. Since the place seemed empty, I went behind the counter and into the kitchen to attempt to make myself some boba tea. so long as electrical workers still exist, there will be power.

I got some lukewarm tea and then poured some milk and tapioca pearls into the cup. Then I put it on the printing machine to put a top on the tea. I grabbed a straw and blindly poked it into my tea. It worked! It was in the exact middle. I started drinking the boba as I left the shop. The tea was amazing but the boba pearls were hard to swallow.

I eventually went to Walmart. I felt like I had everything that I ever wanted – from Walmart of course. I went to the electronics department because I wanted to see all the cool new technology. I stole a phone from there and set everything up. I downloaded Snapchat and tried to get through to my friends. "hey, are you safe" I asked all of them

1 hour later

"yes, but my mom is gone" Avery responded.

Only Avery responded. Avery was my best friend last year, but they moved to Washington, so now I can only talk to them through text. I responded to Avery's text, but I heard a sound behind me. it sounded like a quiet footprint. I continued texting Avery as if nothing happened.

"I know this may sound odd – but did Dixie
D'Amelio come to your house?" – me

"What the- how did you know!?" – Avery

"I guess it happened to everybody" – me

I remembered that I had Dixie D'Amelio's phone with me, and I could check her comments to see if everyone else had dixie come to their house. I pulled out her phone to check her comments but the phone started glitching just like Noah beck when I threw him off the roof. A person my age popped up in front of me with a crossbow and yelled "what did you just do?" "It wasn't me!" I yelled out in fright.

He got closer and aimed his crossbow at me "yes it was" he said in a frightened voice. I backed up using my arms, but he kept getting closer to me. "get away from me!" I yelled. I got up and started running away from him. He shot his crossbow at me while I was hiding in the aisle full of cleaning supplies. I left the aisle and I threw my hands up signaling that I surrender. He went up to me, armed with a knife this time.

He shook me down to confirm that I wasn't a threat. He brought me over to his fort near the self-checkout. He kept me as his prisoner inside a dog cage he found in the pet supplies department. the fort consisted of battery-powered lanterns, beds, a portable stove, and a portable generator for power. "this is a very organized fort, good job!" I said. he stared at me looking unamused while he was taking his gloves off. "you look like you know a lot about surviving in an apocalyptic dream." I admired. "this isn't a dream" he sighed "this is real life."
