Evie leant on the grey stone wall of the corridor letting out a sigh.
She had done it.
She had admitted to it.
She was free from her secret.
Telekinesis was cool, way better than being mad, and she felt relieved.
And something else too.
She had a weird feeling in her chest, an easy, light feeling. She didn't really recognise it. But it was the feeling of doing the right thing.
Setting Julia free would be difficult, certainly.
But she had to try.
She formulated a plan.
She had a weird copy of dreams mask which no-one knew about, at the age of 15 she had 'borrowed' one of dreams spare masks to sneak out (stupid idea really) and kinda... Improved it? It now had a laughing face, and to be honest looked a bit crappy, but it would hide her identity, which was the main point, and she could use one of her brothers black hoodies to hide her hair...
The main issue was getting past Sapnap, Georeg and dream. She could defeat George, maybe even Sapnap, but dream... Dream was different. She could never hurt dream, even if she wanted to. She had to admit that to herself. She was weak. This is why Attachment is bad. She couldn't hurt him. Evie soon realised that her only option was a stealth mission.
Okay.
Not too good at stealth.
Bad.
Bad at stealth.
Failure.
No attachment.
No
No
No
No
No.
She couldn't do this.
But she had to try.
She heard the door open, then slam shut.
'Evie!?' Dream.
And he sounded upset.
Evie panicked.
What if he knew, what if he knew. What he knew.
Suddenly a white noise appeared in her ears.
Bad
Hurt him
Hurt them back.
NO
NOT AGAIN
CONTROL
CONTROL
CONTROL
'Evie I need you down here now.'
His voice cut through her thoughts like a knife. His voice was less stern than last time, but just as insistent.
She casually walked down the stairs, trying to act natural (and failing).
'what's going on dre-'
Her brother was lying on the small, oak wood table in the centre of the room, an arrow in his shoulder. She gasped, hanging on to the balcony to stop herself collapsing. Well isn't karma a bitch. Now her brother was injured. Great. Her eyes started to hurt and she felt a tear run down one side of her face.
No.
No.
Tears show weakness.
No Weaknesses.
No attachment.
And to think she was planning to attack him tomorrow.
Dream looked up from the bandages.
'he will be fine if we can get the arrow out and stop him bleeding to much'
His voice was soft, calming.
She nodded and walked down the short remainder of the stairs and across the room to dream.
Her brother whimpered.
Not only was he conscious, he was in pain. She gasped again.
They had nothing to knock him out with, all of the drugs were in l'manburg. Medical ones too.
She subconsciously tied her hair back into a ponytail, as she always did while under pressure or stress.
Sapnap whimpered again.
She played with the front part of his hair, as she remembered that had calmed Julia down.
'shhh, it's going to be okay, it hurts now, but it won't for long. I'm here and dream is too, just hold on for us'
Evie kept murmuring to him, but looked to dream and nodded, he nodded back.
'we need to take the arrow out Sapnap, is that OK?'
He nodded, but his breathing sped up and he grabbed one of Evies hands and squeezed it tightly.
Dream placed one hand gently on Sapnaps upper left chest, to keep him down, and with the other he grasped the end of the arrow, trying not to move it.
' three... Two.... One.'
He drew the arrow out slowly, blood oozing out of Sapnaps shoulder. It was horrible to watch. Sapnap cried as the arrow was drawn out of his shoulder, and at one point he even screamed a little, Evies desperate attempts to calm him down were failing. Suddenly the arrow was out, and luckily the arrowhead was still attached. Arrows were incredibly dangerous, especially if they hit you in the stomach.
Sapnap let out a breath of air and relaxed a little, but was still in obvious pain.
Why the fuck did that child have to steal all the medical drugs too.
Dream started to clean the wound, and stitched the small hole up, although by this point Sapnap had passed out. Dream then bandaged Sapnaps shoulder, whilst Evie continued stroking her brothers hair and murmuring. Not to him, but to herself. Tears started to stream down her cheeks, dropping onto Sapnaps face. 'who-who did this to him!? ' she said, her voice braking.
Dream was washing the blood off his hands when he replied.
'tommyinnit'.
figures that child would have something to do with it.
'well what are we going to do.' she asked, regaining control as she gradually calmed down, fear replaced with anger.
' when they next attack, I will be ready with as many poisoned arrows as possible.'
Evie nodded, but started sobbing, gasping for air every now and then as her vision blurred and tears streamed down her cheeks.
All the anger she had felt was replaced by guilt.
How many times had she inflicted injurys like this on others.
How many times had tubbo been injured in battle, and had Julia standing over him, crying, as Tommy desperately tried to staunch the flow of blood as tubbo cried in pain and tommy swore revenge.
But at least she could do this one thing to make up for a little of it.
Suddenly she felt something soft and fuzzy.
Dream was hugging her.
'he will be fine Evie. Everything will be okay.' he said, sounding calm, in control of the situation, even though neither of them had any idea what to do.
But he kissed her.
She could feel his lips against hers, soft, and warm. She had never felt this way before. This was why she could not hurt him.
He pulled away and looked into her eyes, moving a lock of her hair backwards, and that's when she realised.
His mask was off.
His eyes were green, so green, almost neon, and his face was dotted with freckles and a few scars.
'like I said. Everything is fine.'
He put his mask back on and left her standing in the room, no longer crying, forgetting about everything in the world except him.
<time skip>
Evie pushed open the wooden door, to see julia waiting there expectantly.
She backed away quickly.
' hello dream' she said, but Evie could hear the tremor of fear in her voice.
Shit.
Evie lowered the mask, revealing her true identity.
'it's - it's me Julia.' she stuttered.
Even the mention of his name threw her off. He was so kind. So perfect.
How could she betray him like this.
But a reminder of tubbos face when Julia had been captured reminded her exactly how she could.
'are you ready?' she said, still barely getting the words out.
'fuck yeah.' Julia said, getting into a defence position.
'dream and George are gone, but my brother is still here, I gave him sleeping pills though.' explained Evie, pulling her mask back down over her face, once again concealing her identity. Julia and Evie left slowly, peering around every corner, even though there were no threats.
' oh, is everyone here okay? I heard screaming yesterday, just after you left.' said Julia, looking concerned, as they walked down the stairs towards the front door. Julia saw the blood on the table and almost screamed herself
'my brother got shot with an arrow, in his shoulder. Dream pulled it out.'
Julia looked relieved, at least they had it under control.
'unfortunately we had no anesthetics or anything to numb the pain whatsoever so that's why you heard screaming.'  Evie finished her sentence, delighting in the horrifyed look on Julias face,
'wh-who' Julia started to speak, but was quickly cut off by Evie.
'tommyinnit.'
'so are you... Are you planning revenge or anything?' Julia enquired, concerned for her friend.
'dream is.' Evie replied nonchalantly, as they now stood in the middle of the large room leading to the front door.
'and you?' Julia continued curiously
'well, karmas a bitch. I hurt your brother, now my brother is hurt. Its a shame it was him and not me, but nevertheless, karma. Besides, it was Tommy who got them to let me go. I won't forget that.' Evie answered in a monotonous voice.
She should not feel like this.
She owed them nothing.

' I'm so sorry about your brother. ' Julia said, looking worried.
' it's not your fault, besides, he'll get better, sooner or later, he will.' Evie replied, shrugging. 'besides, don't you have somewhere to be?'
Julia raised an eyebrow.'where'
Evie laughed, 'l'manburg of course'.
And with that they left, stepping into the sunshine, starting their walk towards l'manburg.
<timeskip because I'm lazy af>
As they neared l'manburg, Evie realised something was wrong.
She could hear screaming and shouting, and hear the clinging of swords clashing against one another, and she realised too late.
Neither of us have any armour or weapons.
Evie pushed Julia behind her.
'stay behind me and don't you dare move.' she ordered, sounding frustrated.
'what's going on?' Julia queried, looking worried.
'there's a battle going on. Come on, we have to get you to l'manburg'
Evie started to run, pulling Julia behind her.
'but-my friends-' Julia tried to pull away.
'they'll be okay, but you have no armour or weapons to help them or defend yourself.' Evie kept running, Julia behind her, but little did they know, they were running right into the heat of the fray.
Evie looked around, and saw dream, bow in hand, poisoned arrows ready to kill, the l'manburgarians trying to attack him, unsuccessfully.
She realised too late that she had led Julia right into the battle.
She saw an arrow speeding towards Julia, and time seemed to slow down.
'JULIA NO' she yelled, running to push her out of the way.
But she felt a stinging pain in her stomach, and fell to the ground, her mask falling off and rolling away, and the hoodie now revealing her hair.
'EVIE. EVIE GET UP, PLEASE, PLEASE GET UP' Julia was yelling, screaming, pleading. It took a moment for it to sink in.
Evie had a poisoned arrow sticking out of her stomach. She was going to die. Julia crouched beside her, stroking her hair like Evie had once stroked hers.
'you-you saved me' she said, tears starting to well up in her eyes.
'don't look for redeeming qualities. You're gonna be looking a goddam long time.' Evie said, confident as always.
'can't you just, heal it?' a shake of evies head and a smile confirmed that Evie had no power over these life and death situations.
'you're a hero Evie.' Julia said, trying to comfort her, as she lay dying.
'I never wanted to be as good as the best. Just.... Better than the worst.'
And then Evie said no more.
She heard Julia get pulled away.
'Julia, Julia come on. She'll be okay.'
That was tommy, she recognised the voice.
Julia was safe. Julia was with her friends. Evie knew, she could rest now.
She stared at the sky above her. Blue. So blue. The contrast of the clouds was beautiful, and she could see the tops of the green trees, swaying gently in the wind. For what felt like an eternity she lay there, thinking about how beautiful the world was. But she was going to leave it. She had to.
A bird flew overhead. She could tell by the tail that it was a swift. A swift. Beautiful. Perfect.
She heard dream scream. A scream of pain.
She saw him kneel next to her and the next thing she knew was his lips on hers. It was time to leave.
Leave forever.
And she did.
She did.
