It had been a week since Whitley and the rest of the girls had heard from Corinne. All of them knew her attitude toward the events at her party, but none of them expected her to evade them because of it. Especially not Jayda and Shalice. The night prior, Jayda had come up with the idea to wait for her after her shift at work so there'd be no possible way for her to avoid them; however, her manager informed them she had been "out sick" for the week. Whitley planned to just shrug it off thinking Corinne would come around, but somehow August had talked her into paying Corinne a visit.
So, there she stood outside of Corinne's apartment door giving herself a mental pep talk before informing Corinne she was outside. A few moments later, Corinne appeared at the door looking worse than Whitley had ever seen her. Although she didn't look terrible according to the average person's standards, she looked extremely disheveled according to her own. Her hair was in a dry, frizzy puff on top of her head, her skin was beginning to break out, her eyes were bloodshot red, and her lash extensions were falling out. Corinne stood silently at the door with a blank look on her face as she moved aside to let Whitley in.
Whitley made her way back to Corinne's room and sat on her bed, and before Corinne could close the door all the way, she collapsed to the ground in a fit of tears.
"I fucked up, Whit," Corinne said between sniffles.
Whitley had originally planned to maintain a cold demeanor until Corinne gave an apology that proved to be sincere, but upon seeing Corinne cry (something Whitley had never seen her do) her spirit would only allow her to go console her friend.
"What happened, boo? Talk to me," Whitley said, crouching down and wrapping her arms around Corinne.
Corinne sniffled a few more times, trying to gain enough composure to get her words out as Whitley rubbed her back.
"Well, f-f-first I w-wanna a-a-apologize for w-what I said at th-the party," Corinne stuttered, wiping away tears from her eyes, "I j-just wanted m-my party to b-b-be perf-f-fact, and th-th-then Aug-g-gust—."
"Corinne, you're forgiven. I understand, but you shouldn't let a small disagreement like that get you like this. I've never seen you this upset before... and you're missing work? No matter how many times we end up falling out, you're my girl at the end of the day so don't let our petty disagreements knock your hustle."
Corinne shook her head as she continued to sniffle and smear tears across her cheeks.
"It's not that, Whit. I mean, I really fucked up."
Whitley furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as she waited for Corinne to explain. She let out one huge sniffle and took a deep breath before talking.
"I told Twon to stay after the party because, I dunno I was just upset about August and I wanted some affection... so, we talked and stuff but then...," Corinne said, beginning to work her anxiety up again.
