Chapter 12

A/N: hey guys sorry for the long break, I didn't realize so many people were interested in my story! I was mainly writing it for me, because I was going through a really rough break up. I had been watching a lot of fairy tail to cope because it makes me happy and started writing this! Then I just got busy with work and meeting someone new and when I finally got back on wattage I saw how many people were liking my story. I can't tell yall how much it means to me that yall like it. "Oh wow, I've heard of Pegasus Village, but I didn't expect it to be this beautiful!" (Y/n) exclaims as she and Lucy enter the hot springs. They were only spending a day at the Blue Pegasus hot springs so the rest of team Natsu could get ready for (Y/n)'s birthday party, but even short on time the girls felt serene in the pools of hot water. "I hope you enjoy your pre-birthday celebration, (Y/n)! You're party will be even better," Lucy gushes, as she sinks down deeper into the water so it's just under her chin. (Y/n) giggles, "That is if Gray and Natsu can manage to get along for long enough to not destroy the whole guild hall." Lucy sweat drops, "Aw man don't say that you'll jinx it!"
The girls laugh, and sit in peace and quiet for a few minutes, taking in the sounds of nature as they relax in the water. "I'm really glad that we could come here alone together, Lucy," (Y/n) says. Her eyes are still closed, and her heads leaning back against the rocks. Lucy looks at her friend with confusion, when suddenly her eyes open and the dragon slayer looks at her friend and gives her a sheepish smile. "I was worried you might hate me now..." the (h/c)-haired girl says quietly, not quite meeting the blondes eyes. "What?! Why would I hate you?" Lucy asks, taken aback. "Well.... B-because of Natsu..." She replies, staring intensely at the water bubbling.
The blonde mage sighs and shakes her head. "(Y/n), you're my friend.. I could never hate you over something as petty as a boy.. Sure I was hurt, because of my feelings for Natsu, but the truth is we all knew one day you both would choose each other. It's clear how much you guys care about one another, and as much as I like Natsu, I wouldn't stand in his way of his love for you." Tears begin to form in (Y/n)'s eyes, and Lucy scoots over to her and hugs her. "Fairy tail is my family. YOU'RE my family. As long as you both are happy, well then I'm happy," Lucy says gently as the two friends hug each other. "You're my family too, Luce. You're one of my best friends, I don't know what I'd do if you hated me.." (Y/n) trails off, still sniffling. Lucy chuckles softly, "Well it's a good thing that isn't the case then. Now cheer up, girl. You shouldn't be sad on your birthday!" She quickly scoots away and begins playfully splashing (Y/n).

With team Natsu

Back at the guild preparations are quickly underway for the big birthday party. "So what are you getting, (Y/n) for her birthday?" Gray asks Natsu as they blow up balloons. "OH CRAP I DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT A GIFT YET," the dragon slayer exclaims as he quickly jumps up from his seat. He begins quickly pacing back and forth muttering to himself, and Gray sighs, "of course you forgot a gift, flame for brains." Natsu stops pacing and gets in Gray's face, "what'd you say, ice princess??! Ugh, I don't have time to fight you right now! I need to get her a gift!!"
"I can help you pick something out, Natsu," Wendy offers, sheepishly. Natsu, turns quickly to look at the young girl, a big smile plastered on his face. "Awh yeah, I'm fired up now! Lets go," he says excitedly, grabbing Wendy's hand and quickly running out the guild hall. Gray shakes his head, chuckling, "man what an idiot." "GRAY QUIT SLACKING AND KEEP BLOWING UP BALLOONS," Erza yells from the kitchen, as she continues baking the cake. "Yes ma'am," Gray says nervously, rapidly blowing up balloons again.

In the town

"Hmmmmm what do you think I should get her, Wendy?" Natsu says while perusing the rustic boutique in Magnolia Square. Wendy stops and thinks for a moment, observing their surroundings. "I don't think y/n would be into any of this stuff," she says as she picks up a frilly blouse, "you know her better than anyone, but even I know she would like sometime heartfelt from you." Natsu looks at Wendy with a grin, "you're right Wendy! Y/n could care less about the item itself, she's never been materialistic! I know exactly what to get her!" With that outburst, Natsu grabs Wendy rushing her out of the boutique to prepare the perfect gift.

"And done!" Natsu says cheerfully. Wendy giggles, "It's perfect Natsu, she's gunna love it! Although I still think you should've let me wrap it" The two dragon slayers look and the wrapped bundle in front of them, the pink wrapping paper crinkled and ripped, tape barely holding it together. Natsu laughs, "Nah I think it gives it character," as he settles the gold bow on top of it. "Come on, let's get back to the guild hall, y/n and Lucy should be getting back any minute now!" Wendy nods, and Natsu picks up his gift for his girlfriend and the two set back to the guild hall to help finish the preparations.

Back at the guild hall

"Alright lackeys (y/n) will be back any minute now," Happy shouts flying around the decorated room, "Gray hurry up and finish that ice sculpture! Gajeel finish hanging that banner already we don't have all day! Erza-" Happy stops what he's saying as Erza whips around, stopping her cake decorating and glares at him. The blue exceed sweats nervously, "uhhh you just take your time, hehe." Suddenly, Natsu kicks in the doors to the hall with Wendy trailing behind him out of breath, "Aw yeah we made it in time!"
Everyone quickly finishes all the preparations just in time as Crystal comes flying into the guild. "They're coming! Everyone in positions quickly!" All of the wizards run to their hiding spots, and the lights dim. The whole guild is surprisingly silent for once, and it's an eerie feeling and the two girls return from their spa trip.
"I don't like how quiet it is, we should be able to hear them from here, it's kinda creepy." Lucy says to her friend, shivering. However (y/n) is frozen in place. A warm, spicy scent of cinnamon and musky teakwood fill her nose. It's overwhelming, her whole body vibrates, completely taken over by the need to find this smell, lust completely washing over her. It's the scent of my mate.. I almost forgot since today's my birthday I'd find my mate.. This smell.. its coming from the guild hall!
Y/n picks up her speed and burts through the doors of the guild hall. The room was dark and silent, causing her to stop in her tracks, confused. "Hello?" She calls out to the seemingly empty room. Suddenly a shadowy figure pops out from behind the bar and starts making its way towards her. Startled she readies herself for a fight when the figure lights a fire in its hands only for her to realize it's Natsu holding a rose. "Happy birthday, blossom," He whispers in her ear, his husky voice making her insides turn hot, his breath on her neck making her shiver with need for him. She realized that Natsu was the scent she smelled, her mate, the one she was made for.
Natsu was acutely aware of the effect he was having on her, and he chuckled huskily, "later," he seductively whispered in her ear. Once again shivers were sent down her spine, but before she could react to her mating instincts the lights flew on and all of their friends jumped out to surprise her. The guild hall was filled with balloons and banners, and in the center was a massive strawberry cake surrounded by presents, and a giant ice centerpiece of a dragon. Her friends ran up to her, hugging her and wishing her a happy birthday, but her gaze on Natsu was unwavering.
