The following morning, Terry, TJ and I all got up super early to head to the gym. We made sure to leave quietly, because Jamie and Caiden were still sleeping. When we got to the gym, I decided to go with Terry, to watch him lift. I thought Jerry would be there too, but he was at home with a cold, so he didn't make it. When Terry got his workout gear on, he went to load the weights on the bench press.
I watched as weight after weight after weight went on the bar, by the time he finally stopped, I couldn't believe my eyes.
"How much weight is on that bar?" I asked.
"Right now, about 560 pounds, but I'm hoping to go higher eventually." Terry told me.
Soon after he loaded the bar, TJ walked in, went behind the bar, and played spotter for him for safety reasons. However, when Terry started lifting the bar up and down to do his reps, you wouldn't know he even needed a spotter, he moved the bar pretty easily. Once he was done lifting, he asked me if I wanted to try, even though there was no way I would even budge the weights.
Terry showed me how to grip the bar, but even though I did exactly as he told me, I pushed with all my might, but that bar just wouldn't move. We all got a good laugh at my attempt, but it was really bad, the weight didn't even go up at all. After three attempts, and no luck, Terry told me I could stop, because he didn't want me to hurt myself. Once Terry was done his workout, TJ left the room to go make a phone call that was going to take him a while.
After TJ left the room, Terry sat down on the bench he was working out on, motioning me to come over. When I walked over to him, TJ sat me on his knee. Then he got a very serious look on his face. At first, I thought I had done something wrong, but once I heard Terry speak, my fears were easily eased. He began telling me something that I was not expecting to hear, since we hadn't really known each other long.
"You know Mike." Terry said, "I've really enjoyed spending time with you since we met. I know this may be sudden, but I wanted to ask you something."
"What is it?" I asked.
"I was wondering if you would like to maybe...... start dating?" Terry asked.
"That's all I've ever wanted!" I told Terry, being very serious with my answer.
Terry smiled at me, wrapping those giant arms of his around me for a hug. But once he let go of the hug, I watched as he looked into my eyes. Then, completely out of nowhere, I watched as he slowly started to move in on me, then he proceeded to give me the gentlest kiss on the lips I ever remembered getting from any guy I've ever dated. I don't think I've ever loved someone as much as I loved Terry, he just made me feel so safe, and so important.
We finally left the gym once TJ was done his phone call, then headed back home. When we got there, Jamie and Caiden were in the living room, where Caiden was playing with his toys, and Jamie was watching TV. Caiden saw us come in, ran to Terry, then looked up at him making grabby hands, like he wanted to be picked up. Terry picked Caiden up, and no sooner did he do so, Caiden laid his head on Terry's shoulder, looking like he could go to sleep, which was exactly what happened.
When Terry noticed that Caiden had fallen asleep in his arms, he took Caiden back to his room to put him down for a nap. Jamie said she'd been trying for the last 45 minutes to put him down, but every time she did, he popped back up, got out of bed, then would start whining, as though he was tired, but at that point, she'd given up putting him to bed for a nap, we just narrowed it down to Caiden wanting Terry to do it, because he seemed to really begin to like him.
I went over to Jamie, taking her by the arm down the hall to my room. I closed the door, then let her in on what happened with Terry and I.
"Terry and I are dating now!" I told Jamie.
"Shut up!" Jamie said, as if to say, "No way!"
"We are!" I told Jamie, "We really are!"
"When did he ask?" Jamie asked.
"While we were at the gym, he told me he wanted to date me!" I told her.
Jamie squealed happily, but I had to get her to tone it down, so Terry wouldn't know I told her. We went back out to the living room after I told her what happened. Terry didn't suspect a thing, so we knew he didn't know that I told her. By now, TJ had been told by Terry that he asked me to date him. TJ congratulated us, giving us both hugs.
Eventually, we had some dinner, then before we knew it, bedtime was upon us. Terry and I hadn't talked about where our first date would be, but the next day, Terry would inform me, on that very subject. We were going to have our first date at the club where I met him, only our first date wouldn't go as planned, as some drama would unfortunately rear its ugly head.
