Jennifer sat at the edge, her long, bare legs dipped into the cool water below. The sun had already set, allowing the pool light up in a fluorescent manner. The pool, that late in the year and day, was completely empty, even though it was indoors.

“I just don’t understand what her problem is,” said Keith. “Can’t she take no for an answer? Trevor was raving mad, he couldn’t get the girl to leave him alone.”

“I never liked Sally, she was too clingy to begin with,” said Jennifer.

“Well enough of her,” he said, shaking it off.

Keith sat down beside Jennifer and put one of his legs into the water reluctantly. He turned slightly to look at Andy and Jack, who sat behind them on the poolside loungers.

“Speaking of girls, how’s that chick you’re dating?” asked Keith to Jack.

“We’re not dating anymore,” said Jack.

“What happened?” asked Jennifer with a concerned tone.

“It just wasn’t working out. We ended it on good terms though,” said Jack, seeming unphased.

“That’s always good. Are you doing okay?” asked Andy.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” replied Jack.

“Man, you’re not good with the ladies, are you?” joked Keith, “Kind of a repellant, like Andy, right?”

Andy just stared at Keith in silence for a moment before speaking, “No.”

“Yeah, we should definitely find some guy for you,” said Jennifer eagerly.

“No, thank you. I don’t want some random guy sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong,” said Andy.

Jack snorted and Andy looked at him as he attempted to conceal his grin.

“Is it about that guy?” asked Jennifer, which caught Andy’s attention immediately.

“No, it isn’t,” Andy stated.

“Wait, what guy?” asked Keith.

“He’s nobody,” said Andy.

“Some guy she hooked up with at my party,” said Jennifer.

Andy was at least thankful that she hadn’t told Keith about Adam. She was also feeling guilty that she hadn’t told Jennifer, her best friend, about Adam. Andy glimpsed at Jack, who was looking at her intently. He knew the whole deal, but he hadn’t told a single soul.

“Well,” Keith took a deep breath, “Whatever the case may be, I didn’t come here tonight to just stare at the water.”

“You can go right in,” said Jennifer. “I don’t feel like swimming yet.”

“Well that’s too bad,” replied Keith.

“What?” muttered Jennifer.

Keith simply pushed Jennifer over the edge, and with a shriek, she fell into the chilling water. She had grabbed onto his leg as she went in, pulling him along and he slipped, falling in with her. Andy watched this and giggled in her seat. The two came up to breath and splash at each other.

“You guys, come on!” yelled Jennifer in excitement.

“Okay, okay!” called out Andy.

Andy stood and picked up her bag, making sure everything was in it.

“Alright, I’m going to get changed,” she said.

“I’ll come with,” said Jack, grabbing his own gear.
