The next day, right after my father and I dropped Zeta and I off at school, I began to practice the words I was going to say in my head to Zoey. I was curious about the "Dark Abyssion School" thing, and it had not left my mind since reading about it online the night before. I wondered if our president knew the place? I don't think he'd allow one in America.
Oh wait, yes I did. This was America! Something like this had to be legal... right?
Zeta and I walked together to see our friends and hang out with them in the morning. It was around seven o'clock AM, so there was around forty minutes first classes of the day started. We arrived to see Hanna, Pryce, AJ, Jeanette, Sabrina (Jeanette's best friend, so I assumed), Josh, and some other people talking among themselves about who-knows-what. More of interest to me, I also saw Zoey talking with them. My eyes lit up and a smile plastered across my face as I walked more quickly toward our group.
"Hey, what's that whole 'Dark Abyssion School thing?" I asked in my head. "No, that sounds too forward. She'd turn away in seconds."
"Matt!" Pryce called out to me before I had the chance to say anything to Zoey. "Have you met Zoey yet?" Obviously, he didn't quite know.
"Yeah, I just met her yesterday!" I replied with a smile on my face. Just the thought of her was causing me to beam with delight.
In no less than ten seconds flat, Zeta took off, leaving me behind to go talk to Zoey. I took a deep breath as I turned to her, ready to ask her all about the Dark Abyssion School.
"Hey, Zoey!" I called out to her. She quickly turned her head toward me and softly smiled at me, as I had with her.
"Oh, good morning Matt!" she replied. "What's up?"
I inhaled, tensing up a bit as I prepared myself to ask. For some reason, I felt that I would be opening Pandora's box asking the question. However, I still found it in me to ask the question anyway. "So Zoey, what is the Dark Abyssion School of-" Before I could even finish my question, she cut me off within seconds.
"Does my blog still say that?!" She asked, her smile and glowing eyes suddenly turning into a look of absolute horror. She backed away as her eyes started to widen, and she went silent for a few seconds. Similarly, I retreated backward and sighed. My heart raced in anticipation as I weakly nodded.
"I... can't tell you..." she muttered, her voice being only barely audible beneath the sound of all our friends conversing at once. "I'm sorry!" she cried out, running off at a breakneck pace. She did not once look back.
"A real charmer, aren't you, Matt?" I heard AJ ask from behind me. I turned around to face AJ, who gave a slight chuckle as he wore that crooked grin on his face for only a second before his face reverted a blank expression.
"I... don't know..." I softly replied, looking down at the ground. Was Zoey angry with me? Was she scared of me, or what I had to say? What could I do to make this situation better?
"Honestly?" began Josh. "She kinda creeps me out, man."
"Matt has a girlfriend who wants nothing to do with him!" Pryce mocked me in a singsong voice.
"Shut up!" I snapped at him. Only momentarily after, I sighed again. "Sorry, just... a little worried."
"Matt." Hanna began. I turned around to look at her as she looked me in the eye, ready to explain something to me. "If you want to find out more about the Dark Abyssion School or whatever, just do a search on it online or something." She's always giving me good advice.
