"A young man has been found dead in his bedroom early this morning on 36 Benvole Street. An investigation is currently underway to find any related evidence to do with the suspected murder. It is understood that the home was broken into late last night and the young man, by the name of Wong "Lucas" Yukhei, was murdered. Anyone with any information is encouraged to call-"
The T.V. clicked off.
Yangyang looked down at his hands, there was no denying it anymore. Blood coated every surface of him, most of it dried, peeling from his skin. He held his head in his hands. His head was an empty roaring mess. It couldn't have been him that killed Lucas but he had no other explanation.
There was no other explanation.
"Yangyang! Are you alright?" His mum knocked on the door. Yangyang's heartbeat started racing, grasping for any excuse.
"Ye-yeah! I don't feel too well... I think I might just stay home..." Yangyang prayed his mum bought the lie, hoping she knows he's seen the news.
"Okay honey... I'll talk to you when I get back home." He hears her walk away and the front door click shut. He sighs with relief and sat up straight. He couldn't believe it, not only was another one of his friends dead but he thinks he may have killed him... he killed Lucas. Yangyang strips off his blood-covered jumper and pants and climbs in the shower. He rests his head against the wet tiles as burning hot water crashes over him. Did he really do this? Was everything his fault?
He didn't remember killing Lucas. He didn't remember leaving the house last night. Maybe... maybe he didn't do it... he couldn't have, right?
The water ran cold. Yangyang steps out and dresses, eyeing the bloody clothes lying on his bedroom floor.
After throwing the clothes into a dumpster, around five blocks away from his house, Yangyang stalks the alleyways. His steps drag as his mind races, what the fuck is wrong with him? Before he even registers how long he's been walking, Yangyang turns up in front of Lucas' house. The entire property has been taped off, officers crawling everywhere. People walking past stop and point before being quickly ushered along.
"Mr Liu, what a pleasure to see you here," A harsh female voice makes Yangyang jump.
"Ah... hello, Detective," Yangyang stares at Detective Hwang, the same woman who interviewed him after Kun's death. She looks relatively the same, however, the bags under her piercing eyes have grown. She looks deathly at him, none of the polite softness when she talked to him last, he has a sinking feeling that she knows something he doesn't.
"May I ask why you've come here?"
"I-I heard about... all of this," Yangyang gestures to the house, to his friend's dead body somewhere, "I just needed to see for myself, I'm not really sure what I expected."
"I heard you had a fight with Lucas not too long ago, can I ask what that was about?" She seems passive about it, but Yangyang knows that it's not just a passing comment. She must have talked with Winwin, maybe even Hendery... shit.
"I had a fight with Hendery, not Lucas." Yangyang is slightly pissed, she really thinks he did this.
Didn't you?
"Oh, I see. Where were you last night, Yangyang?" She stands up straight, making him feel even smaller.
"I was at home, you can even ask my mother if you don't believe me."
"Were you at home, Yangyang? I know you might not understand, but I hope you know that I'm on your side, you can be honest with me," Detective Hwang's face tells Yangyang that she is definitely not on his side and that he may be in a shitload of trouble very soon.
"Good day Detective Hwang. I hope you know that you're right, I don't understand and I don't think you're looking in the right spot. These are my friends." With that, Yangyang turns on his heel and casually strolls away from the police site. He can feel the Detective's eyes burning into his back. Once he rounds a corner, he drops to his knees and leans his head back against the cool bricks.
Two down, five to go.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!" Yangyang screams, causing a young girl and her mother walking past to turn and stare at him with wide eyes. The mother quickly picks up the little girl and darts away. Yangyang softly laughs to himself, he's going fucking insane.
"The hell you doing here?" Another girl's voice. If it's Detective Hwang, Yangyang thinks, he's going to kill her. He looks up and see's that it's Lina, from the bus.
"Skipping school... you?"
"Same," She stares him down, "You're an absolute asshole, you know that?"
He huffs a laugh. "What did I do this time?"
"You don't remember last night? You fucking pushed me over on the bus."
...Last night? Oh shit.
Yangyang levels eyes at her, "Have you talked to any police officers recently?"
"What? No, I was just on my way to see Mum though."
"Mum?"
"Sam Hwang, you might know her. She's the detective in town. She asked me about you, y'know? Have you done something? She was pretty curious," Lina laughs softly.
"Did you tell her anything?" Yangyang stands up, not breaking eye contact.
"I went to bed straight away, so no. I was gonna talk to her today," Lina looks uncomfortable under his harsh gaze, "Don't worry, I'm not going to say anything bad about you," She forces out a laugh awkwardly.
You know what to do.
Yangyang doesn't bother telling the voice to shut up again, he understands. He throws Lina into the wall behind her, she cries out in pain.
"What the fu-" Yangyang stops her by hitting across the jaw, hard. She screams out in pain.
She will attract attention.
He looks around and his attention snags on shattered glass from beer bottles near the dumpster. Yangyang slinks over and grabs a bottle that's been smashed in half. As he turns around, he sees Lina begin to run. With a swift movement, he grabs her by the back of her jumper and slams her into the ground, covering her yelp with his hand. He stabs the glass bottle into her stomach and can feel the breathy screams press against his hand. He pushes the bottle harder and harder, warm blood coating his hand. After a while, he withdraws the bottle and stabs it into her neck. The light instantly fades from her eyes. Blood sprays from her neck and splashes on Yangyang's face and body.
Grunting, Yangyang stands up. He stares down at Lina's limp body as realisation dawns on him. She's dead, he killed her. He actually killed her. Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.
"No... no, no, no, no... What have I- Oh god." Yangyang bends over and throws up next to the dumpster. He looks at his blood-covered hands and gets a feeling of deja vu. He killed Lina, and he had very little doubts that he killed Lucas too. Did he kill Kun too? There's no way... Yangyang shook his head. He threw the bloody bottle into the dumpster, guilt pulling at his stomach as he dragged Lina's body over and chucked her into the dumpster as well.
Maybe he deserved to be caught by Detective Hwang, even if he never knew it was him until now.
Pussy.
Fuck.
