"in my dream, you are dead" the boy says as he tilts his head down and fiddles with his fingers while taking deep breaths to prevent himself from crying.

minho wasn't ready for that, at first he considered whether or not it was a continuation of his own dream...but that wouldn't make sense since in his dream not only did he die, jisung did as well. so he thought about it more and it started to make sense since he was never in his child's life that he'd also not be present in his dream. "do you know how i died?" minho asks in a smooth calming voice to prevent his child from tearing up any more.

"no. i just know that you passed away when i was a baby." the boy frowns at the thought of the dad he had in front of him being gone as well. it's scared him to think about it.

minho pulled the boy into a hug. he felt so terrible not being able to help him for the past two years to help him out with this dream. "i'm so sorry, minkyu. i'm here in the real word if that helps. and now that your in my arms and can hold you tight, i won't ever leave you." the small boy wrapped his small arms around his father and softly began to cry into minhos shirt.

"b-but how do i-i know if this is real?" he sniffled and squeezed his arms tighter around his dad.

these words...they hurt minho so much to hear. to think his son was suffering not knowing what was real and what was fake just like he did in the past. "lee minkyu, i promise this is real, all of it. listen to me sweetie, i'll find a way to get you out of that nightmare of a dream. i promise you."

"please hurry" is all the small child replied.

minhos heart sank at the amount of fear that shook within his sons tone. it made him wonder, what else was going on in that dream to make his son so terrified. so he held his boy, in the most loving way he possibly could to show him that he was not alone.

just as the two shared their moment, jisung walked into the kitchen and stoped in his path to see his son clinging onto minho while they shared visibly loving hug.

minho looked over at jisung who stood in the entranced and waved him over. "alright minkyu, can you sit with dada while i finish dinner?" he received a nod in return.

minkyu released his father from the hug revealing wet tear stains on minhos shirt. which of course his father didn't mind.

once minkyu was seated in jisungs lap at the kitchen island, minho continued to cook the meal until ready.

-

"here's to the first meal as a family in 5 years" minho and jisung raised their glasses of wine while minkyu raised his waterbottle before digging into there food at last.

"will you have a job now that you are home?" minkyu asks his father, minho, who lets out a small laugh.

"no bubs. i'll always be at home. we don't need to work since we are already wealthy." the eldest informs.

"but dada has a job"

minho tilted his head in confusion and looked at his husband. "you do?" he was curious as to why he had to get a job. did something happen to their money while he was gone? we're there inconvenience that he was able to help solve?

"it's not really a job, sometimes i help felix at his restaurant and wait tables when i'm bored"

thank goodness i wouldn't felt horrible to leave you working by yourself. "felix opened a restaurant?" minho questioned. he hasn't even gotten to the question of how his friends are doing.

"yeah its really successful too. maybe we should go out to dinner there tomorrow night."

"yeah, maybe..." thinking about it...seeing his friends after all this time made him anxious for some reason. it's been years and walking back into their lives as if he was never gone just seemed a bit too much for not only him but probably them as well. he wondered how much they all changed, If they had children, or if they were still in the same relationships they were before he left.

"minho... I know what you're thinking" jisung started. "it's going to be just fine, they miss you, you know."

the eldest nodded, he'd rather talk about it later. "so, minkyu" minho said, changing the topic. "do you have any friends at school?"

"hmmm i have uncle innie a-k-a mr.yang but i stay away from all the other people because i don't know which one they are?" minkyu let his eyes drop to the floor as a frown took over his expression.

"do you mean you don't know what personality they have since they are also in your dream as well?"

minkyu hummed in response. "uncle innie is all i have here."

"that's not true pumpkin. you have your dad and i, and we will always be here no matter what." jisung reassures his son.

"you guys promise not to leave me?"

"promise" his parents said in unison.

"good, also daddy since you were never ever been here before with me as a big kid now, i have to tell you MY rules of the house." the small boy puffed out his chest and rested his hands interlocked with each other in front of him on the table.

minho raised a brow at the sudden confidence in his child's voice. "you have rules?" he questioned getting a small laugh out of his husband.

"yes i do and here they are. so first, i get to sleep in dada's arms. not you. sorry! i love you! number two,  no loud noises past my bed time. a pretty boy needs plenty of sleep. well that's at least what dada tells me. now my last one is don't ever leave me again. that's all!"

minho set his right hand on his heart and raised the left arm up, receiving a soft giggle from minkyu who knew what he was about to do. "i, lee minho, swear to follow each and every one of lee minkyus house rules he has giving me today"

minkyu was a giggling mess as he hopped out of his seat and ran to give his father the biggest hug he could present. "i'm so happy you're home." the small child nuzzled his face into minhos chest as his father wrapped his arms around the boy.

"i'm happy i'm home too, bubs" it was a soft moment. minho really never though he'd be able to get used to have his own child hug him like this. it felt so perfect to finally be back home.

-

dinner was quickly finished up and they were now all getting ready for rest. minho turned off all the lights and walked back over to the large bed he hadn't slept in, in years. there laid jisung with a sleeping minkyu in his arms.

"goodnight my boys." he said softly before letting his thoughts slip away as he drifted off into a deep sleep.
