A/n- I don't know much about baseball. Please bear with me, lol.

Sterling stood to the right of home base and adjusted his cap. It was finally spring and that meant two things, a glaring sun, and the official start of the baseball season.

He patted his bat on the base twice before holding it up and eying the pitcher. Mike Russo. Sterling couldn't stand the guy. He had a mean pitch and was one of the main reasons Sterling's team; the Red Hots lost last years World Series.

Sterling ignored the catcher behind him who was talking a load of shit trying to distract him. All Sterling wanted to do was win; he had to prove to his coach and team that he was still the star batter of the Red Hots.

Russo threw his first pitch and Sterling swung his bat a second too late causing the baseball to land right in the catchers hand.

"Strike one!" The Umpire called out and Sterling tapped his bat on home base twice trying hard not to lose his cool. Meanwhile, Julian Rodriguez was making snark comments behind Sterling.

Pulling his cap up a bit, Sterling readjusted his bat and got in position again. He watched as Russo tossed the ball up three times before he raise his left leg up and tossed the ball again. Sterling was ready this time; he swung his bat and it collided with the ball sending it way outfield.

Quickly, Sterling dropped his bat and ran to first base as the crowd screamed in support.

"Richards has hit a home run on the first game of the season folks! This is the Richards we all know and love!" The announcer screamed as Sterling ran to third base. His opponents, the Bolts were busy scrambling trying to recover the ball. Sterling ran past third base and quickly ran to home causing the ballpark to erupt in cheers. The Red Hots score automatically jumped to 4 and Sterling nodded his head as he dapped up his teammates. He knew he had this season in the bag.

"Sterling Richards is officially back! How did it feel to hit that home run at the start of the game?" The female reporter asked Sterling after the game and he smiled before leaning into the microphone.

"It felt great. And for all of my fans, expect to see more home runs, the Red Hots aren't playing fair this season." Sterling said causing an uproar amongst the spectators that were still in the ballpark.

"And there you have it folks! Sterling Richards is back in the game!" The reporter said to the camera and Sterling shook her hand before removing his cap and making his way out of the diamond. He made his way to his teams locker room and once Sterling entered, he was met with the cheers of his teammates. Although everyone put in work that led to the team's victory, there was no doubt that Sterling's home run was the most impactful.

He unlocked his locker and pulled out his phone already knowing that messages from his family and friends would be the first thing he'll see.

He decided to respond to Camila first.

Good job out there babe! - Camila

Appreciate it 🤞🏽

Sterling scrolled through his messages before locking his phone. He only felt obligated to respond back to Camila. Instead of fooling around with some of his teammates, Sterling grabbed some things and made his way over to the showers where he rinsed and cleansed himself from the dirt and sweat of the game he played.
