Chapter 1

Harry and his friends all sat in silence in Dumbledore's office with Malfoy and his cronies sitting opposite. Dumbledore paced in front of the round pinewood table like he thinking of what to do with them. They had all gotten in trouble again and he was wondering whether to expel us or not. After a few moments of silence he turned towards us and let out a disappointed sigh.

"Your family will be informed of the ruckus you caused. They will get to decide your punishment as they always know what's for you...so you don't make mistakes when your older."

As he said this a spark of sadness ignited in his eyes and the everlasting twinkle dimmed. We all sat in silence for a moment before Ginny sat up a little straighter with curiosity in her eyes

"Did you have a family professor. Wife and children? Maybe even grandchildren?"

We all looked at him expectantly-even Malfoy. He walked stiffly towards to window and was silent for a moment. Finally he opened his mouth but his voice cracked when he spoke as if he was on the verge of crying.

"I did "he murmured "A long time ago I met a muggle woman named Caroline who was the smartest and bravest woman I had ever met. We fell madly in love and one day I asked her to marry me. She said yes and we eventually had a daughter named Katherine. She was a sweet girl but was a squib. One day Caroline got stuck in the middle of a wizards fight and...she died. Katherine grew bitter and started hating wizards. When she turned 18 she moved to America and changed her name to Kathy Grace and became a successful actress. Then she met a mystery man and they had a daughter together she named Thalia Grace. The mystery man disappeared after her birth. I went over and begged Kathy to let me help raise her but she refused saying I would contaminate Thalia. I was allowed one week per year with my grandchildren. When Thalia was 4 the mystery man came back and they had a son together named Jason Grace. The mystery man left for good this time. One day when Jason was 2 and Thalia was 7 Kathy took them to the park and asked Thalia to get something. Thalia was suspicious but complied and when she returned her mother was crying and Jason was no where to be seen. When Thalia asked where Jason was Kathy replied that he was as good as dead. Outraged Thalia called the police and ran away. I went over to help look for them but they were nowhere to be seen. Kathy was out of my reach and had started taking drugs and drinking. A few years later she died in a car crash and I found out Thalia had died a month or two ago as well." he broke of and turned away holding back tears.

"Your all dismissed." he said still holding back tears.

We all got up and started leaving. Hermione stopped for a second and turned around to face Dumbledore.

"I'm sorry for the deaths of your family professor." she said softly before joining everyone else and leaving.

When everyone left Dumbledore let a tear slip from his eyes. As it slid down his face he whispered in a barely audible voice, "Not dead, my family's not all dead. Just lost."

----------Time skip---------

Jason was running. He had been running for days. He was running from everything. In the space of a few months he had lost everything that he truly loved and he was tired of it. He was tired of fighting to survive. He was tired of letting himself love only to have his heart ripped open because someone decided to take it away from him.

After he lost all his friends and his girlfriend he felt like someone had planted a ticking time bomb inside of him. A time bomb that he knew would explode soon. Thalia was the only thing that seemed to slow it down and now she was gone too. Because of him. Because he wasn't fast enough to save her.

If people saw him now they would think he was pathetic. What hero of Olympus was he if he couldn't save his own sister and his friends? His heart gave a clench at the thought. His sister was the only thing tying him to the camps. When she died he cracked. He packed up and left. He couldn't take it anymore.

He prayed to whatever deity that Percy was there somewhere and that they would run into each other. He wanted Percy to be there. He knew it was selfish. To find Percy and bring him back to camp only to tell him the love of his life was in a coma with the rest of his friends, probably never going to wake up while Piper and so many others were dead. But he couldn't bring himself to care. He wanted Percy to help. To tell him it would all get better and be the older brother he never had. But it never happened. He had no where else to go.

Everyone else hated him. He knew it. The way they looked at him. The way they talked to him. 'I blame you for what happened to them' was the unspoken thought on their mind when they saw him. If he had run. If he had fought harder and arrived earlier or even stayed and cooled down after his fight with Annabeth. They may have not said it to his face but he knew they wanted to. They were just scared. Scared of what he might do. Scared of what might happen and mostly scared of his father. He knew he should have been used to it. Even at Camp Jupiter they only respected him because he was their praetor. When he met the seven they were the first people to see him as who he was but now even they were gone. He let out a bitter laugh at what Gaia would think of him now. She would be laughing because she had succeeded in doing what she wanted. She had taken everything away from him and she was going to pay. She was going to pay for sending those monsters.

He picked up his pace and continued running. Running away from his life and the monsters in it. His head was pounding and his ribs were aching. Blood was seeping through his ripped shirt staining it blood red. He hated to admit it but the last hellhound attack had left him in a far worse shape that he thought. If he had known how many revenge thirsty monsters were going to attack him maybe, just maybe he would have stayed. He heard a roar coming from behind him. His heart rate picked up as he willed his tired legs to go on just a little faster. His vision started to blur and his breath was coming in short ragged gasps. He knew if he didn't stop soon he might not make it. His broken arm ached from the strain as he tripped on a rock. Landing on the ground he groaned in pain. The monster was coming closer and closer. Fishing his sword out of his pocket he clutched it tighter in its coin form as he saw black spots in his vision. The last thing he saw was a blinding white light and then it all went black.

In the forbidden forest a boy landed with a thud...
