last day of junior year:marceline, melina, tai, and scarlette walk out of their school in bliss, relieved that what seemed like most stressful year of their life was finally over.
"y'all coming over?"
tai struggled to say while trying her very best to piss off all the senior jackasses she'd never see again. melina and marcy agreed, but scarlette's answer differed from theirs for the first time in ages.
"actually i gotta be somewhere"
she said with a tremble before running off in a direction opposite from her home.their neighborhood was very obviously split, with their high school placed directly in the middle. the right side had nicer, more modern homes where the kids born into wealth lived. the left being smaller, humbler homes. scarlette, along with marcy and tai, all lived on the left side. melina's mother is rich but she never likes to indulge in her. much like tai's parents; melina's mom is never home. the only time she ever shows affection is through luxurious gifts. sure that may sound pleasant at first but after 17 years of this bullshit melina much rather be able to spend some quality time with her mom.
scarlette dashing towards the right was extremely unusual, but the only person who seemed to noticed this oddity was marcy. she recalled that only a few days ago scarlette was whining about how she could never even afford to step foot on that side of town, but now she was in a rush to get there.
marcy wasn't able to snoop for long before melina grabbed her arm, playfully leading her to tai's house. tai's place always looked a bit disheveled due to the fact that her and her twin were left there with no parental supervision for the majority of the time. speaking of twins, tai and toby. despite them being twins, they could not be any different. (shocker i know) toby was quiet and kept to himself for the most part. always focused on studying and rarely ever left the house. tai on the other hand was outgoing and almost never home unless she was with melina and marcy. she did decently in school but it's not like she ever tried to do so. she was too busy telling off musty men at skate parks or smoking with random college kids. if you couldn't already tell, they don't exactly get along.they made it to tai's garage. garage? you may be asking. it's not your average garage. a few years back the 4 friends turned this boring old garage into their hangout spot. it didn't take much effort to do so though. it was a pretty normal looking garage other than 2 bean bag chairs placed lazily next to eachother and a large cooler. what made it so perfect in tai's eyes was the fact that it was the farthest away from toby's room possible.
marcy grabbed sodas for herself and melina before sitting down in the bean bag chair next to melina's. the three of them sat in a comfortable silence, the only noises heard being mother nature herself and tai lighting a cigarette."was it just me or did scarlette seem off earlier"
marcy broke the silence.
"i'm sure it was nothing crazy. some people have lives you know, it's normal"
melina said almost sarcastically . tai chuckled at her words, smoke coming out of her mouth and nose. the three laughed off the worry and carried on like normal.
they would have never guessed what was waiting for them in the upcoming year.
