his chest moves up and down at a quick pace. the picture of the man burns behind his eyes again. the man has a name now.

he shivers. he thought that when he ran away, the nightmares would stop. he hoped for a dreamless sleep.

his room is cold and dark, the night is still young. he rolls out of bed to get himself a glass of water. on his way to his kitchen, he hears a quiet meow.

in his kitchen sink sits a white kitten. even though the kitten doesn't belong to him, he isn't startled at the sight of the strange animal. he's gotten used to it by now because every now and then the kitten manages to slip into his apartment, knowing that he'll be there to feed it.

he assumes that the kitten also has nightmares as he pours himself a glass of water after shooing the kitten away from the sink.
