Louis POV
The light on the bridge was dim, but I could still see him. He was sitting on the railing of the bridge, looking down at the speeding cars under him.
"Harry?" My voice was shaky, and it came out a lot louder than I intended, causing Harry to flinch forward.
"That's me." He replied bluntly. His feet were planted to the bottom of the railing and his hands clutched the railing so hard his knuckled turned white, his body itched forward as if he was ready to jump.
I walked closer.
"Look, how about you get off the railing, come home with me, and I'll make you a cup of coffee? We can talk. It'll be okay just get off the railing."
I was close now, to the point I could see the tears drying on his milky cheeks. He was beautiful, so beautiful. I wanted to make him smile, a smile that would light up his sad eyes. Why was he so sad?
"Why so you can lie to me again?" He snapped, his voice harsh and firm.
I rolled my eyes before moving my hand to his chest, pushing him back towards me and away from the ledge.
"Don't touch me! I swear to god if you don't move I'll jump right now!" He yelled, his body shaking with each sharp word.
He was so stubborn. But he didn't know me, and I was just a little bit more stubborn than he was. So I did the most idiotic thing I'd ever done in my life.
"Fine, jump then." I climbed up the railing, sitting next to Harry and looking down at the road.
Harry looked at me, fear and wonder filling his eyes. His mouth fell open a little as he looked at my feet.
"Don't be stupid Louis, get off." His voice was so harsh it sent shivers down my spine. Like hell I was getting off.
"No. If you're gonna jump then do it. But just know the moment you hit the pavement I'm hitting it next to you."
This was a bad idea. I'm a fucking idiot but there's no going back now.
"Well don't leave me hanging darling, either jump or get down." My voice was steady, I had no idea how considering I was hanging off a god damn rail.
Harry was silent, his eyes drifting from the pavement to me, then back to the pavement.
"Okay fine, I'll go first." What the hell am I doing? My hands let go of the rail so I was only balancing on my feet, and my body began to lean forward before I was snatched back by Harry, his hands shaking.
I fell onto him and we both stumbled onto the bridge, a few feet away from the stupid railing.
"You're such a fucking moron you know that right?" Harry snapped, his hands wrapping around me and pulling me close to his chest.
"Yes, I know. It worked though didn't it?" I smirked, if he thought I was gonna let him jump he had another thing coming.
"Why do you care so much?" He whispered, his beautiful green eyes meeting mine.
"Because you went out of your way to make me, a person you don't even know, smile everyday. Someone who would do that deserves to smile as well. And if you'd let me, I'd like to be the someone to make you smile."
I didn't notice the tears running down my cheeks until Harry wiped them away. The single touch of his fingertips sent sparks down my whole body, and the butterflies in my stomach went wild. What a cliche moment this was, and what a naive boy I was. But I liked him, and he was so close.
His face was so pretty. His eyelashes brushed against his skin and his eyes were the deepest shade of green in the moonlight. He was so beautiful and I couldn't help myself.
So I kissed him. I leaned in, and crashed our lips together. He hesitated before he moved his lips against mine, leaning into my touch. His lips were rough, and he tasted of cigarettes, mint, and Chapstick. But it was the perfect mixture, and I couldn't get enough of it.
So there we laid, in the middle of the night on the Golden Gate Bridge, locked by the lips.
It was a fucked up thing what happened before, but in that moment I wouldn't take any second of it back. He was perfect. A complete insecure mess, but nonetheless perfect.
"Don't you ever fucking scare me like that again do you understand?" I leaned my forehead against his and he smiled, nodding his head.
"Okay, let's go home curly."
