iii. We Only See Each Other at Weddings and Funerals

"Do you think you'll be alright?"

"I'll be fine Ben, thank you though."

"Right, I got to go."

Ben disappeared as Ambrose laid on his bed staring up at the ceiling, he was crying for a while but stopped as Ben tried his best to comfort him. He wiped the remaining wetness off his face as he sat up and looked at his desk, he didn't notice all the college textbooks from all those years from being in and out of college. One would say it would be impossible for one human to accomplish so much, but Ambrose was a boy genius he remembered receiving his first Doctorate at 11 years after being adopted by Reginald, in the same year he got his second. But he would have had his fourth doctorate if he hadn't been in a coma for those three years that Five was gone. It's been 16 years that he wasn't with them, but for Ambrose, he was only awake for 13 years. He missed a lot in three years.

"Holy shit! I thought you dropped out."

"Nah, I was in a coma is all... so what do I miss?"

"Well I'm not your only roommate anymore and I just got out of a relationship..."

"I thought you wouldn't last."

"Yeah of course you're right... but are you just gonna go back to classes like you weren't missing? Come on let's have fun before you go back."

"Daniel, I woke up two months ago I think I'll be fine..."

"One party! Come on, you need a refresher!" Ambrose sighed and nodded agreeing with his friend and roommate at the time.

Ambrose may have been younger than everyone but he was likable by everyone, Daniel was his buddy and made sure he was safe. So of course he wouldn't let Ambrose have a taste of any drug but trying to stop him from having alcohol was a different ballpark.

A couple of years passed by and it was routine to attend every party Ambrose didn't need to study he did it for fun and he tutored for fun too, it was a perk of being too smart for his own good but life at 22, while everyone else was slightly older, was different.

"Wait! Wait! Wait! You're still a virgin! And haven't dated! God! Why didn't you say something Genius! I could have hooked you up with any girl!" Daniel was pacing the floor looking on his phone for the perfect girl to set a date up with, Ambrose enjoyed Daniel's accompaniment and he made him feel like a normal human.

Daniel was enough for Ambrose, in a way he used to imagine Five could have been like him if they were just ordinary like Vanya. "Dan... I don't like girls... I mean dating-wise..."

"Bisexual? And Homoromantic! It makes sense! I just the right hook-"

"No! I... I wouldn't mind if... um... shit never mind forget it." Daniel blinked looking at the flustered Ambrose he couldn't help but smile but he kept his cool as he walked up to him causing Ambrose to look at him, "Hey what are you doing-"

"Can I?" Daniel stared at his lips and looked him in the eyes waiting for a verbal answer.

"Please..."

All of his first ended with Daniel, Daniel took care of him. They weren't dating or anything, they were friends and roommates with benefits, everything Ambrose knew came from Daniel in a way they had a different kind of love for each other that didn't compare to others but this made Ambrose normal.

"Fuck... are you learning new tricks without me?" Daniel began to chuckle proudly and even broke a sweat while Ambrose got off him flopping next to him and panting.
