34. Back To Normal... Sort Of

I slowly open my eyes, a strip of light passes trough the small opening in the curtains. I look at the clock, 8.23 AM. I sigh at the realisation that yet another day has begun. I hesitate to call in sick again but I know that I can't keep doing that. I look at the clock again, 8.25 AM. And I decide that it's time to get out of bed, on the bedside table right behind my alarm clock is a picture frame facing down, I can't look at it anymore it only makes me sadder than I already am. I take a deep breath and collect myself. I take a quick shower, get dressed and eat some breakfast and hurry to Star Labs.

When I arrive I greet everyone like nothing ever happened, they all look at me.

"What?" I ask everyone. Caitlin quietly walks towards me and puts her arm around me.

"Are you okay?" She whispers in my ear.

"Yes I'm fine." I say determined. "Now are there some metas who's asses need to be kicked?" I ask and walk away from Caitlin's grip towards the monitors where Cisco is standing. Barry looks most confused out of everyone but I ignore it. When I reach the monitors I see Cisco looks at me with an unsure look in his eyes. I know he feels bad for me but he also is secretly very happy for himself but I don't act on it, I feel way to tired for that and also his brother just passed away.

"It's good to have you back." He says. "I missed you." He whispers after, I look at him and give him a soft smile. I look back at the monitors and stare at them for a while but it doesn't go of. I really hope the evil metas aren't taking a day off because I really need the distraction. When the monitor hasn't gone of half an hour later I decide to go training. Caitlin asks if I want her to come with me but I say no. I hate the pity they have for me and I need to be alone for a while.

Training was a good decision, it feels like the day is flying by and I'm gaining more and more control over my powers. I'm also getting stronger physically because I decided I didn't want to only depend on my powers so I started muscle training. I decide to take a short break and look out the window, I see the sun is already setting, it must be getting closed to night. Right when I wanted to go back to the training room Cisco walks in, he says there's a meta causing trouble in a bar. 'Finally!' I think and we walk back to the headquarters together.

I head to the bar, we decided that I could handle this one. I really needed to do something, plus Barry was stuck at his job. I walk through the door and immediately see the guy Cisco was talking about. He is very big and is throwing glasses all over the place but he's not using this hands. It looks like telekinesis or something. I walk to the bar and sit down next to him. I hear through my earpiece that Barry is back at the headquarters, he's talking about a meta specialist that now supposedly work with him even though he's been there for a while now. Barry sounds really concerned but Cisco tells him to be quiet because we're busy with a meta. He guy at the bar looks at me and stops throwing stuff instantly.

"What's a girl like you doing in a bar like this?" He asks while he gets closer to me.

"Just here to get a drink." I say back without looking at him.

"You sure you don't want more than that?" He comes even closer to me and I can feel his drunken breath on my neck, he puts his hand on my inner thigh and I decide he's stepped over the line. I take his arm and turn it around his back, he yells in pain. I put my other hand on the back of his head and slam his head hard on the bar. The yells in pain again. Now I get close to him and say...

"Touch me again and I swear I'll make sure you're grandkids will feel it." The anger in my voice builds up and I can feel my eyes turn yellow.

"Wow since when is she so... intense?" I hear Barry ask confused.

"Since always!" Cisco answers annoyed.

"You're coming with me." I say to the meta and I lead him out of the bar.

I'm back at the headquarters and I'm happy of the results from the bar. This is the happiest I've been in a while. Barry is walking in circles nervously, then suddenly stops.

"Okay can anyone tell me what going on here?!" He almost screams.

"Barry what do you mean?" Caitlin asks.

"Like where is Hartley for instance?" He asks confused. The happiness I felt fades away immediately. I hear people say "Wow" and Cisco even says "That's cold, Barry."

"Hartley and I broke up remember." I almost whisper.
