Chapter 4: Confrontation

EVENING

TAILAN TOWN

It was evening by the time the cultivators finished preparing for the task that was to come in facing LuiZhao Tao, the flower lady who was currently being watched by Wei Zhang. The martial artist was hidden on a roof out of view, he huffs watching as LuiZhao closed up her shop for the day.

'She plays her roles well' Wei Zhang thought as he narrows his eyes.

He tensed up as a person called out to LuiZhao Tao, she turns and greets the person, who was a young girl around 14. One of the merchant children in town, he watched as LuiZhao talked with the girl and charmed her into coming with her.

Wei Zhang moves to keep them in his sight, the Lan's were at the temple waiting for them to arrive. He kept pace as the little girl talked away, unaware of the danger she was in. Wei Zhang ducked behind a tree when LuiZhao Tao looked behind her, he took a deep breath and hide his spiritual energy. He relaxed a bit as the two kept walking, he moves from behind the tree and ran after them as they arrived at the old temple.

He saw Lan Xichen hiding behind some trees with his sword drawn, he moved over and got his attention.

"She has a young girl with her, we'll have to move fast," Wei Zhang said making Lan Xichen nod.

Lan Xichen made a hand movement to the three nearby Disciples who move out from their hiding places and head towards the building, they stood ready with swords at the ready, Wei Zhang cracks his knuckles and rolled his neck to loosen up his muscles. He took a deep breath as he approached the door with Lan Xichen.

"Once inside seal the openings off, we can't risk her escaping," Lan Xichen said making his fellow Lan's nod.

"On three, one, two, three!" Wei Zhang said as he moves kicking the doors open and running inside.

Perfect timing as well because LuiZhao Tao was making her move, the scream of a little girl rang out, Lan Xichen and Wei Zhang ran to the center of the building while the disciples broke off to seal any escape routes.

In the middle of the room on the bed, pinned down by her neck, was the little girl. She was struggling and yelling, her legs kicking out as she tried to escape. Her small hands tugging at LuiZhao's hand, it was no use since the lady was much stronger than her. LuiZhao Tao had a large smile on her face that was all teeth, showing off sharp fangs, she raised her hand with a dagger in her grip.

However before she could land a fatal blow Wei Zhang ran over and lashed out with a sweeping kick hitting LuiZhao's legs making her yell, the shock of it made her release the girl's neck. He grabs the girl and jumps away as LuiZhao turns and tried to slash at the girl in Wei Zhang's arms but he jumps away to where Lan Xichen and the three disciples were.

"You!!" LuiZhao Tao yelled angered as Wei Zhang knelt and put the girl down.

"I need you to go and run, don't stop for anything, this will keep you safe," Wei Zhang said handing the girl a talisman making her nod and run off the talisman would let her escape the building.
