I watched as the man I loved got on one knee in front of another lady.

"Will you marry me?" he asked beaming.

The lady seemed surprised, but she nodded yes. My heart stung and I turned away when they kissed. It hurt too much to watch. He was moving on without me. What happened to us? I thought we agreed to be together forever. The crowd around them was cheering and the photographer was throwing confetti. I knew she was going to say yes, so why did I even come? It hurt enough when they were just dating but now they're engaged. I doubt I would be able to come to their wedding. I would probably faint after they both said I do. He would invite me anyway, I mean to him I'm a thing of the past. Everything that happened between us is now history. His fiancee on the other hand is history in the making. What does he see in her? Yeah, she's pretty but she is also swallow. Swallow as the kid's area at the pool, but somehow he still loves her.  I know I messed up  but I still love him more than anything. Why can't he see that?

"Gracie, did you hear me" I heard before feeling a tap on the shoulder.

I turned before seeing Milo, and my cheeks flushed.

"The video the photographer took turned out amazing," he said grinning.

"And she's already planning the wedding, haha. I'm so excited" he said.

"Oh, cool. I'm sure you guys will have a killer wedding"

"Mhmm, awww. Look Raquel is so cute with her hair down." he said gawking at her.

I had to stop myself from rolling my eyes.

"I can drop your stuff off for you while you're out for dinner," I said.

"Really? thanks. It's going to be great. You can come if you want" he said.

"Nah, I feel a bit tired. I'll see you soon though" I said waving him off.

I watched as he practically skipped back to Raquel. My legs felt like jelly, and I felt a headache coming. At least he's still my best friend. I didn't lose him completely, did I? I'm somewhat still in his life. I took his stuff to my car, and drove to his house blasting music trying to blank out everything that just happened.

I couldn't help myself. I walked through his house touching his stuff and laying on his bed. It's weird how I still have a key, but I'm sure Raquel will take mine soon enough. I stared at his living couch remembering when he and I kissed there. I walked room by room all the memories of us together flooding my system. I was about to walk back towards my car when I heard the key turn. I quickly hid behind the couch. I peeked from my hiding spot and saw Raquel and Milo walking in.

"Who's car is that?" Raquel said hands on her hips.

"It's Gracie's she dropped off some of my stuff," he said.

"Mhmm okay. Hopefully not doing anything else" she said.

"No, of course not. We're just friends," he said grabbing her hands.

I felt my heart crack into two at this statement but I kept quiet.

"Does she think that? I see the way she looks at you. She wants to be more than friends." Raquel said.

"Noo, that's not true. She would tell me if she still had feelings for me" he said. "

Oh ok" she leaned in for the kiss, but then I accidentally bumped into the couch. "

Who's there" she screamed.

I stood up and waved.

"I guess dinner ended earlier " I mumbled.

Raquel gasped, "Why is she in here?".

"She's dropping off my stuff," he said biting his lip.

Raquel shook her head and stormed out of the house. She is such a drama queen. I'm surprised she's not an actor instead of a lawyer. Milo turned to run after her, but I yelled wait before he left.

"Yes, Gracie?"

"Consider this, just for ten seconds. You get your ring back and you and Raquel break up. Then you find an immediate replacement, me. I love you, and we know each other really well. Everything will be different this time, promise" I said staring at him.

I watched his face change as he thought over what I had just said. I expect him to look happy and overjoyed. After all, this was an opportunity to get back with his lover. He didn't have to continue with this stupid act anymore."Gracie I'm sorry, but my feelings lie elsewhere."

"What?! Even with everything that happened before between us?" I asked.

"It doesn't mean anything now. You let me down"

"How? You broke up with me!" I shouted.

"You told me you loved someone else. What was I supposed to do?"

"But now I'm back. I love you again."

"True love works both ways, Gracie, sorry to break it to you," he said.

"Raquel is no replacement for me! She's shallow, and she's a drama queen. Not to mention she spends way too much money shopping"

"I never wanted to replace you. You cheated on me, remember? "

 "I didn't cheat! It was a misunderstanding " I said.

Milo looked as if he was about to say something back, but he placed his hands on his head.

"It doesn't matter anymore. It's over for good and I'm sorry you can't seem to understand that," he said. "

"You're lucky I forgave you. Otherwise, we wouldn't even be friends" he said before following after Raquel.

I left my key to his house on the coffee table and let myself out. I should have moved on by now. He has, so why can't I. It's my fault things are like this anyway. Jealously had practically eaten me alive at this point, but I can't stay feeling sorry for myself. I need to get rid of Raquel once and for all.
