"Daffodils symbolizes regard and chivalry. It is indicative of rebirth, new beginnings and eternal life"
When you woke up the next day, you immediately wished for the ground to swallow you whole.
Despite using the umbrella the flower shop guy had given to you, you still managed to catch a cold.
But of course, your bad luck didn't stop there. Instead of staying in bed with some hot soup like you wanted to, you had to go to school since it was the final day your teacher would be willing to go over the course material for your test.
The same test that you no longer had legible notes for because of the rain incident yesterday.
And so you begrudgingly got ready for school that morning, making a mental note to get some cough medicine before you got to school. As you made your way through the kitchen for a quick breakfast, the bright yellow flowers bobbing gently in a vase caught your eye.
Immediately your lips curled into a smile as you thought about the kind stranger from yesterday. In the end, you had accepted the flowers and the instant you got home you put them into a little jar with water and set it right by your kitchen window.
They still looked just as beautiful as they did the other day. You took a moment to run your fingers over the petals again as you admired their beauty. And sure enough, just like yesterday, they managed to put a smile on your face. As cheesy as it sounded they really did brighten your day a bit.
Life might be a bitch sometimes, but there are still a few nice things in it.

"Are you coming with us to the movies today?"
You just barely registered the words of your only friend, Mai Nametsu as you two walked on campus. You nodded absentmindedly, not paying much attention to her. Instead, your eyes were focused on the same flower shop from yesterday.
From that particular spot on campus, you could just barely make it out in the distance. You weren't completely sure, but it looked different from yesterday. There were a lot more people there, it looked almost full. A complete opposite of yesterday Though to be fair, with how much it was pouring it wouldn't have made much sense for people to be there in the first place.
"(y/nnnn)," she whined, tugging at the sleeve of your jacket. "I asked what movie do you want to watch?"
"What?" she huffed in annoyance and repeated what she had asked.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I actually have to rewrite my notes and study tonight. Maybe next time?" She looked mad a first, but then just smiled and shook her head. "You always have your nose shoved in a book. You need to take a break before you burn yourself out." she scolded as she pulled out her notebook.
"I need it back by Monday okay?" You nodded and hugged her tightly. "What would I do without you?"
"You'd be a fucking loner that's for sure. You need to make friends."
"I do have friends," you countered, eyes glancing back to the shop again.
"I don't count. I'm practically your sister at this point. You're young and hot. Go out, meet new people, get laid or something."
Your eyes lit up once you saw him come out of the store with a huge flower pot in his hand and a little old woman behind him. You watched as he helped her put them, as well as some bags of fertilizer and gardening tools in her car.
"Hello? Don't tell me you zoned out again."
"Sorry Mai, I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow though!" you yelled as you jogged towards the shop. You shyly peeked in. The white-haired boy didn't notice you, as his back was turned as he tended to a few seedlings.
You wanted to go in and thank him for yesterday, or at least say hello. But as you noticed him turning you immediately ducked away from the window. Heart pounding in your chest as you clutched your bag closer to hide your flustered face.
"Goddamnit y/n. get yourself together." You took a deep breath and tried to go in again, only to see that he now had another customer in front of him. You frowned in disappointment. "Way to go y/n."
You gave the shop door a final wistful glance as you turned to leave, not wanting to disturb him.
Before you could make it a few steps down the street you heard the jingle of the shop bell. You turned around curiously, only to see him there in front of you.
He simply stared at you for a moment before his lip quirked into a small smile. He slowly approached you and held his hands out. He then gestured to a bundle of daisies in his hands.
"I'm glad you aren't crying today."
『AUTHOR'S NOTE』
I don't know if you remember but Mai Nametsu was the manager of Date Tech High's Boys' Volleyball Club.
Also, these flower meanings might not be all that accurate but hey I'm trying.
