"I don't believe this... how did you find it, Copper?" Seaslug demanded, banging his fist against the makeshift table. "And why do you have a Speed Stinger? I thought you hated dragons!"
"Oh I do, Sluggy. But these remarkable creatures... they don't deserve to be called dragons. They deserve something much greater." The newcomer, probably not much older than Hazel, gave a menacing grin. His sand-colored hair was long and fell over his eyes.
"It can't even fly." Hazel replied, leant against a tree with her arms folded.
"No, she can't. But she doesn't need to." He gestured to the very same Speed Stinger who was now pinned under Calamity's large talons. "You see, I came here because I found a dragon who isn't a killing machine or a huge pussycat. This one is intelligent, agile and very fast. Better than that overgrown sea urchin." He pointed mockingly towards Vulture, who snarled in return.
"So let me get this straight. You left the hunters because you finally saw that it was wrong?" Seaslug narrowed his eyes.
"No, I was exiled for killing RedClaw."
"You... what?!" RedClaw was the ruthless leader of the dragon hunters, and Seaslug's uncle. Having murdered his father shortly after he was born for trying to defend the dragons, he had always despised Seaslug. And in return, Seaslug despised him. But now... he was dead?
"Well, technically Violet Night killed him, but I told her to do it, so it counts."
"Violent... Knight?" Trash asked.
"No? Violet Night." Copper rolled his eyes. "I mean you and your dragons no harm. Let us stay, and no harm shall come to your precious Vulture. Turn us away.... the Sand Wraith will have to watch his back." He grinned, producing a small dagger, similar to Seaslug's. Vulture stood defensively, snarling once more at the newbie.

"I don't trust him." Hazel whispered to Erin, who shook her head in return.
"Neither do I."
"And who's to say I don't kill you right now?" Seaslug challenged him. Surely he wasn't that kind of person? Sure, he was born to hunters, but he was different to them.
"You don't have it in you." Copper spat. "You never did. It's a good thing you left while you still could."
"Now hold on, Copper, was it? How do we know you aren't spying for your fellow... hunters?" Trash stepped forward, with Blackstorm ready to pounce on top of the former hunter if needs be.
"Would a dragon hunter befriend a dragon?" He replied with an eerie calmness. When nobody replied, he leaned back with a smirk. "Exatctly. Besides, you guys need me."
"Why would we need you of all people?"
"Well for starters, look at that pile of twigs over there." He gestured to Erin's house. "That will barely last a day."
"Why you pile of dragon-" Erin stepped forward. She would have punched Copper right in the jaw if Trash hadn't held her back.
"Erin's house is fine. Look, if you do want to stay, then you need to live by our rules." Seaslug stood upright, crossing his arms. "Rule one: You do not touch anyone else's dragon without their supervision. Rule two: You do not leave the clearing unattended. Rule three..."
"I feel like you just made those up, and they were directed at me more than anyone else." Copper folded his own arms, giving a mock pout.
"That's because I did. Now, do you promise to keep your dragon under control?"
"Fine. Besides, it's not like we actually need you. We just wanted to get away."

Ronan placed his hand on Seaslug's shoulder and gently pulled him aside.
"I think it's safe to say... I don't trust Copper."
"I don't think anyone does, or ever has for that matter." He replied. "He's a hunter. Keep Calamity away from him, get the others to do the same. I'll decide what to do." He turned back to see Violet Night's stinger getting dangerously close to Calamity's leg. Calamity, however, was smart enough to know that a Speed Stinger's tail could paralyze a dragon, and quickly moved away. Ronan rushed over to his Stormcutter, pulling him away.
"This guy can't stay."
"No kidding." Erin butted in, Apocalypse giving a sharp growl in agreement.
"It's a Speed Stinger, Seaslug. The thing practically screams I'm going to paralyze you in your sleep then run away before you even realise it was me." Hazel stood beside him. "Look, I don't usually like to interfere, it's not my place. But I agree with Ronan, I mean, we're basically asking for something bad to happen."
"Alright, look. Copper can stay, but we take it in turns to keep an eye on him. If he tries anything, we drop him into the ocean with the Seashockers. Agreed?"
"Seems fair." Trash nodded, followed by a few more reluctant nods from the others.
"Oh, thank you Sluggy. I just knew you would come to your senses." Copper threw his arms around him.
"Don't push it." Seaslug rolled his eyes. "And your dragon stays away from ours, at least for now. Understood?"
"Fine."
