Kirigan POV

"I'm sorry my Star. I will find you, and we'll make this right.", that was what I told her before she backed away from me. She backed away, then looked back towards her friends, when I cut the connection. I had been trying to bring this connection about since she disappeared from the Little Palace, only then I thought she was taken, not that she ran thanks to Baghra. I should've known that Baghra couldn't stand to see me happy or the fact that I was right at the point of getting everything I'd worked so hard for. What my dear mother wasn't aware of though was that my feelings for Tatyana had nothing to do with her power, but everything to do with just who she was. For I had, had dreams about her before I had even met her, just like she had with me. Only I thought this was my mind playing tricks on me, showing me the Sun Summoner and how we could control the Fold. But Tatyana, is even more powerful then that myth, for she's the Celestial Summoner, meaning she can summon all light be it the sun, moon, and stars. So even if she was wrapped completely around my shadows she could still produce light and a powerful light at that. And if we were to join we would be unstoppable. Yet, has much as a part of me only wanted to use her for her powers our dreams and spending time with her changed that. She told me how I made her feel safe and protected in her dreams, and she told me how she understood why the Black Heretic, or rather why I created the Fold to protect those like us. She was the first one, if not the only one who could see why I did it. The more time we spent together the deeper the dreams became, and the closer we became during the day. She sees me, and not just the parts I show the rest of the world. But then she did has all the others did she ran. Though that was not the only disturbing thing, for when she left the dreams changed and I couldn't connect with her like I had at the Little Palace. And after the two dreams of hers that I saw, I knew I had to find her. An in order to find her I had to find the Stag. "Sir, she's close by.", came David's voice bringing me out of my thoughts. Looking to him and Ivan I nodded my head letting them know to go ahead and lead the way. I told you Tatyana I will find you and we will make this right.

    Tatyana POV

Has night had fallen we were getting closer. Turning to look I Mal I said, "Mal, when we find the Stag, I need to be the one to kill it." Nodding his head he replied, "Of course. I'll line up the shot for you, and then you take it." What makes you think I can't line up my own shot Mal?" Shaking his head with a small laugh he said, "Your right, but I do have a question. Do you really wear it's bones?" Nodding my head I replied, "Yeah. At least, that's how it's been done." From beside us Alina spoke, "Guys, I think it went that way." Coming around a bend, stood in the middle of a clearing the White Stag, it turned its head in our direction has I rose Mal's gun to take a shot. When I got a strange feeling that this wasn't right, lowering the gun I said, "Hang on." "What are you doing?", Alina asked in a hushed whisper has I made my way towards the Stag. "I need to get closer to it." Now I stood directly infront of the Stag, but it didn't move away instead it stared directly into my eyes. "If we keep it alive, how do we..", began Mal when I responded. "I don't know....The General didn't want me to have an amplifier. So he didn't teach me about this." I raised my hand then to touch the Stag's snot has Alina spoke, "Well, maybe there's another way to do this. That's when my hand made contact with the Stag and a burst of multicolored light appeared around us in a protective dome. I could feel this surge of power I had only experienced when I was touching my Shadow. Has a smile began to grace my face I heard a gunshot ring out in the woods causing the Stag to bellow and fall to the ground. Falling back myself I saw a Grisha with a gun appear behind the Stag but before he could make another move Mal shot him. Though it didn't do any damage because of his kefta, Mal dropped the gun and grabbed his bow to line up another shot. Yet right has he was about to fire it, Zoya appeared behind him using her powers to blow the arrow away and saying, "That animal's not meant for you." At this point Alina was trying to make her way towards me only to be stopped by a Heartrender, making her fall to her knees. That was also when the Heartrender from before  managed to fire an arrow at Mal going through his back and through his chest. "Mal! Alina!", I shouted has I was now on my feet. Looking to the Grisha around us I summoned my light and sent it towards Zoya, Ivan, and the other  unnamed Heartrender causing all of them to fall back. Once released Alina ran towards Mal as I did, we looked to the arrow then each other before coming to a silent agreement. Alina braced Mal against her, has I wrapped my hand around the arrow before speaking to Mal. I broke the front of the arrow off I looked to Alina to hold him steady. "Okay, hold on this is going to hurt. Ready on the count of three. One....Two....Three." Pulling the arrow from his back, Mal coughed up some blood has we all noticed a dark shadow covering the snowy ground. Looking up we saw Kirigan making his way towards us only he wasn't looking at me he was looking at the Stag. Glancing behind me and back ahead I saw him begin to summon his infamous Cut, when I got up and ran to the Stag throwing my hands up to create a shield around both my friends and the Stag. With my left hand on the Stag and my right in the air, another multicolored dome of light appeared causing Kirigan's blade to bounce off of it. Kirigan lowered his hands then and finally made eye contact with me. "You can't save them, Tatyana.", came his tenor voice. "You may have the power of light itself, but not the power to heal. I know the tracker and mapmaker are important to you. Give me the Stag, and I'll have my Healer save him." Looking to where Mal laid on the ground, has blood dripped from his mouth and Alina tried to stop the bleed. Mal then looked to me has he spoke through labored breath, "No! Don't give it to him, Yana!" Shaking my head, I looked to Alina has she tried to stop him from moving while telling him, "Stay still. You've lost too much blood." Looking from them to Kirigan, then back to the Stag has it whimpered I felt a tear fall from my face. Kirigan saw the tear, I know he did because he stopped moving forward, and if I didn't know any better I would say he was confused as to why I would shed a tear. Alina called to me then has she threw a knife at my feet say, "You have to kill it.", she was fighting back tears. Because she knew has I did that if I killed the Stag Mal would die. Shaking her head she said, "You have to kill." Seeing Mal dying and watching Alina begin to break at the thought of loosing him, I made my eyes meet Kirigan's has I spoke directly to him. "Promise me! Promise me that you'll have him healed and let Alina go!" "No! Yana what are you doing!", came Mal's labored voice again. Alina hushed him has Kirigan locked eyes with me and said, "I promise." Dropping my right hand I ran other to Alina and Mal but was quickly grabbed by Ivan and pulled away has the other Heartrender grabbed Alina. Fighting against Ivan's hold I shouted, "Stop, stop! You said you wouldn't hurt them!" While I was shouting Kirigan summoned his Cut again, but without me there to protect it he sent it flying cutting the Stag's head off. Lowering his hand he turned to David, who appeared from behind him, and said, "Bring me its antlers." Managing to move a step away from Ivan I shout, "I hope it was worth it, you murderer!." At that Ivan pulled me back against him and whispered in my ear, "You stupid fool." Turning my head away from him my eyes once again locked with Kirigan has Ivan asked, "What about the other two, sir?" With Kirigan's eyes still locked with mine, I said to him, "You promised." Nodding his head he replied, "I am a man of my word. Heal him. And let the girl go, they were only protecting Miss Sovetskaya." Has a Healer appeared, Ivan pulled me towards a carriage cutting off my line of sight of Mal and Alina. Once in the carriage wooden cuffs were placed on my wrist to prevent me from summoning my light. I refused to speak the whole journey back to the camp before the Fold.
