Letting Go of the Past

I awoke  early the next morning before Genya, and her staff arrived to my room to get me ready for the day. Has I sat in my bed I looked over at the silver tray that last night was covered in fresh fruit and other delicious treats, and the man that brought them to me. Sitting there in my bed I couldn't quite wrap my mind around why the General would go out of his way to bring it to me himself, instead of sending one of his Grisha to do it on his behalf. I then thought back to how my body reacted to his gesture, I thought back to how I began to glow with a silver light. At first I thought my mind was playing a trick on me, but seeing the look on his face I knew he saw it to. My only question was, why? Why was it that my so called powers only wanted to work around him and not when I called upon them. That's not the only time they worked. My mind thought then, which brought my attention to the scar across my left palm. Using the fingers on my right hand I began to trace over the scar, when there was a knock at the door. "Come in.", I called out has Genya and two of her staff followed her in with a bag in her hand. "Morning, sunshine.", said Genya has I sat up and asked. "Have any letters arrived yet?" Shaking her head she replied, "No. Sorry." Releasing a sigh I then looked at the other items that her staff had with them has I asked, "Am I going horse riding?" "With General Kirigan.", she replied. Rolling my eyes I swung my legs out of the bed and said, "Really? He wants to trot me around town, when I can't even call upon my powers. I don't have time for that. I need to be training, that way I can get what I need to done. The sooner I do that the sooner I can go back to.." "To what? Your life? This is your life now." Shrugging out of my rob I nodded my head has I added, "Yeah, my life. Where Zoya no doubt is waiting to squall me against one of the many pillars here since I broke her nose." "Well it might ease your mind to know that she's no longer here. He sent her away to reassess her priorities. Now here put this on, you don't want to keep him waiting." Now that surprised me, because from what Nadia and Marie told me, Zoya was favored by the General. And if he already came and apologized for her behavior why would he still send her away. Turning to look at Genya I asked, "Is he angry?". With a smirk she pulled out a new kefta has she said, "This might do the trick." Looking at the new kefta I replied, "But black is his color, not mine. I think I should stick with the blue one for now." Genya just shrugged her shoulders then has the hung the black one up in the wardrobe in my room, and took out the blue one.

After getting dressed I made my way outside where I was met by the General and two horses; one white and one black. Upon seeing him I saw how he looked me up and down, noticing that I wasn't wearing the kefta he chose. It was then that I felt myself grow shy. "Morning.", came the General's deep voice, which sounded even deeper compared to my soft voice that followed. "Good morning." Making my way towards the white horse, when I notice him shrugging out of his kefta. "You're not going to wear your Kefta?", I asked has I petting the horse. With his kefta now off he answered my question with a question, "Did you not like the color I chose for you?" "You're the only one that wears it. Plus I don't want to put an even bigger target on my back from anymore of your admirers, because we're wearing the same color kefta.", I answered looking back towards him. "Tell me, are you so anxious to be like everyone else and not be seen?" "I wasn't sent flying across a training ground when I was unseen by the Second Army, plus it would be nice to know what it feels like to be like everyone else, someday, General.", I replied has I got myself up on my horse. "Well unfortunately for you Miss Sovetskaya, that day is not today." "Can you call me Tatyana, please. It's just everyone else seems to just call me the Sun Summoner. It would be nice to just be referred to by my actual name." Now upon his black horse he nodded his head has he replied, "Of course Miss...I mean Tatyana. And you may call me Kirigan." With a small smile I nodded my head in understanding that this was he way of trying to put us on an equal level. With a smirk of his own he kicked his horse has it began to trot away and I doing the small making mine follow his.
