I sighed as I pulled my bag up higher on my shoulders. My hair flopped in my face and I blew it out of the way. I looked up and caught sight of Yamaguchi almost immediately.

"Hey! Yamaguchi!" I shouted. He turned away from his tall, blonde-haired companion and faced me.

"Oh, hi Hinata. What's up?" he questioned.

The blonde peered over Yamaguchi's shoulders at me. "Who's this shorty?"

And of course he had to hit a nerved right off the bat. "Fuck off, blondy."

"Oooh! The pipsqueak doesn't like people talking about his height does he?" the boy went on, a smirk covering his face.

"Please, Tsukki, not now," Yamaguchi hissed.

I glared at 'Tsukki' before looking at Yams once more. "Anyways, I came to say that I think we should get more members."

The taller boy furrowed his brows. "We have like eight people already. Why do we need more?"

"Oh, I don't know, maybe because five of said eight members never show up and don't plan to show up," I said.

Yamaguchi shrugged. "Fair point, but who's gonna join?"

I gestured to the blonde. "What about your boyfriend here? He play anything?"

Tsukki rolled his eyes. "I'm not his boyfriend. My name - thanks for asking - is Tsukishima Kei. I play the drums, but I'm not interested in playing in your little club."

"Tsukki, do you have to be rude to everyone?" Yamaguchi questioned.

"Huh? Why wouldn't you want to play music if you can? I mean, if I could play the drums, I'd want to be doing it all the time." I'm honestly confused by him.

Tsukishima stared down at me for a second before he scoffed and walked off without another word. Yamaguchi and I watched him go and I saw the green-haired boy slump.

"I'm sorry for him. He's just not much of a people person," Yams apologized.

I waved him off. "Don't worry. Beside, I'm sure we can find someone else to drum. We're also gonna need to find someone who plays keys."

Yamaguchi thought for a minute, seemingly coming up with nothing. "I'm sure we'll be able to find someone. I'll let you know if I do. See you later, Hinata."

He waved and walked off, leaving me to my thoughts.

During lunch, I snuck my way into the club room and sat down with my guitar.

I took my time tuning so I could get the right sound. At last, I'm able to start playing. Right before I started, however, the door opened to reveal a dark-blue uncut menace by the name of Kageyama Tobio.

"What are you doing in here?" he asked, scowling at me.

I returned the expression. "Getting in extra practice. What about you?"

He shrugged. "Same thing as you."

I watched as he took a case off his back and opened it to reveal a cow patterned bass. I tried to hold in a laugh, letting out a snort.

"What's with the spots?" I questioned.

He looked up. "Oh! I like milk so an old friend of mine painted cow spots on here. Nice, right?"

"More like childish," I answered. The taller boy reached put and punched my arm. "Aaaaw! Kageyama!"

He smirked and tossed me an input wire. "Hook your guitar up."

I did as he said and strummed away at the strings of my guitar. For someone who was as good at guitar as I was, I rarely got to use an actual amp. My old school didn't have enough funds for a music club and it had taken me forever just to save up for the guitar I had.

That's why I was so happy to hear the magical sound of my instrument filtering through the amp.

"What's with you? Haven't you used an amp before?" Kageyama asked.

"Not a lot. I acted like this at the competition, too."

You see, Kageyama and I weren't exactly strangers. He and I met six months before we turned up at Karasuno. And I had promised him I would beat him after he crushed me at Stars Rise, a youth band competition.

He was a skilled bassist with a fluid band and the nickname 'Stage King'. I was a kid who learned to play guitar in my room and threw together my band last minute.

"Well, lucky you. You get to use the amp every day now." He plugged his bass up to another amp and strummed a few chords. "Wanna play something?"

"The Stage King wants to play with a lowly peasant?" I joked. I knew I had made the wrong move when his face clouded over.

"Don't call me that. Ever." He tsked and looked down.

I decided to backtrack. "Do you know that one song by Noah Kahan. It's called 'Part of Me'."

He looked back at me, a small smile playing at his lips. "Yeah, I've heard of it."

I nodded and slowly started to strum. The opening chords to one of my favorite songs filled the room, Kageyama soon joining.

I took a few deep breaths, building my confidence before I started to sing.

"I think I've forgot the things I've done," I serenaded. Kageyama looked up briefly in surprise.

"It's just good to be alive
And I can stay grateful for the sun
Though it's getting in my eyes
And how was Salt Lake City dear?
Do you feel me?
Mmm~"

I continued on, singing the lyrics from memory before I reached the chorus and got the biggest surprise.

"Feels like I lost part of me out there," the two of us sang in unison. I smiled wider than I ever thought I could at the sound of Kageyama's deeper voice harmonizing with my higher one.

"My mind, my mind
When the space between our bodies disappear
My mind, my mind..."

We trailed off there as the door swung open. Yamaguchi stepped inside followed by a short girl with blonde hair.

"You guys sounded amazing, what the hell!?" Yams shouted, grinning from ear to ear.

"It was all me," Kageyama responded. I quickly swatted at him only for him to dodge out of the way.

I eyed the girl once more and saw her hide her face. Yams, suddenly remembering she was there, gasped.

"Oh yeah! I found us some keys!" he said excitedly.

The girl lifted her face just slightly and looked at us.

"I-I'm Yachi Hitoka."
