The door to the clubroom burst open as we were catching our breath.

Suga, Daichi, Tanaka, and two other kids walked in, followed by a teacher.

"Holy shit! That was amazing!" Suga exclaimed. All six of them were staring at us in awe. "Who are those two?" He gestured to Tsukishima and Yachi.

Yamaguchi stepped up. "Um, the girl on keyboard is Yachi Hitoka from class 1-5 and the drummer is Tsukishima Kei from class 1-4."

"Oi, Ryu, he's, better than you!" the shortest of the bunch yelled. He had a patch of yellow hair and his fingers were intertwined with the tallest one.

"Shut it, Noya. Look, Hinata took your place, too," Tanaka retorted.

"U-uhm guys, please don't argue," the tall dude said, pulling at his ponytail with his free hand.

Noya looked up with an apologetic look. "Sorry, babe. You know I can't help but argue with him."

I watched the entire scenario play out with interest. The entire group of them was so mismatched it was funny.

"By the way, these are the other two member I told you about. Azumane Asahi, the keys and Nishinoya Yuu, the guitar," Suga informed us. "And this is your advisor, Takeda. He brought us here because he has news."

The man looked surprised, as if he had zoned out. "Ah yes! So, after some begging, I got us a joint practice with Aoba Johsai."

"You mean that prep school music club?" Nishinoya questioned.

Takeda nods. "Yeah. Apparently, they have band and wanted to try writing with us. We'd go to them because they have the bigger space, and let's face it we can barely fit in here."

"Hmmm...." I mumbled. "A lot of my old band went there."

I heard Tsukishima snort. "You mean the ones who left you high and dry last year?"

I growled. "Shut up, Tsukishima."

He smirked. "Try and make me, Stage King Kageyama."

"BOYS!" Daichi boomed, stopping me from attacking the blonde. "Stop fighting."

"Thank you, Daichi," Takeda said. "As I was saying, we're going tomorrow by bus. We only have an hour of set time. Everyone needs to be there with these permission slips signed."

He handed each of us a paper. I looked down and quickly read the information there.

"Oh cool! So I'll get to play my guitar and get tips from other people?" Hinata asked, looking absolutely ecstatic.

"Yep!" Suga answered.

"Alright, you guys are free to go," Daichi said.

I quickly packed up my bass and slung the bag over my shoulder. I saw Noya and Tanaka eye the cow print and ignored them, running a hand through my waves.

"I'll talk to you guys tomorrow," I said and walked out of the room.

I flopped onto my bed with a huff and turned over to face my ceiling. Fake stars stuck there, the same ones I had put up there when I was five.

I sat up and grabbed my speaker, connecting my phone via bluetooth before putting on a song by Tate McRae.

The soothing sounds of her voice filled the room as I stood and started taking out my earrings. I placed them in my jewelry dish and moved to take off my clothes.

I went into my rooms connected bathroom and turned on the water. As I waited for it to heat up, I stared at myself in the mirror.

My wavy hair was messy and hanging in my eyes. With my shirt off, I could clearly see how skinny I was, my ribs almist showing.

I ran a hand over my chest with a sigh.

Ignoring the voice in my head, I stepped into the shower and let the hot water run down my body. I massaged the shampoo into my hair slowly and closed my eyes as a mantra filled my head.

I'm okay. I don't have trouble eating. I'm healthy. I'm okay. I'm healthy.

"Tobio!" my mother yelled down the hall. "Come grab your plate!"

I paused my music and pulled on shirt as I made my way to the kitchen.

There, my mom stood, hovering near the counter. "Hi."

She looked up and smiled. "How was school?"

"Fine, I guess. I need you to sign something for this club I'm in," I said, glancing at my plate. Take-out sushi again. Not that I had any room to complain, seeing as I probably wouldn't eat.

"O-of course. I didn't know you were in a club," she said.

"Didn't really think you'd care," I muttered. I grabbed the form from the counter and handed it to her. "I'll be gone tomorrow because of this trip, so don't expect me for dinner."

She nodded and snatched a pen out of a drawer. I watched her read the paper in curiousity. Finally, she signed her name and handed the form back.

"Have fun with the music club!" she encouraged.

I looked away, ignoring her as I grabbed my plate. "See you tomorrow."

The minute I got to my room, I let out a deep breath. I set the plate down on my desk and went to sit on my bed head in my hands. Even a simple exchange of 'hi' with my mom made me lose my mind. She wanted to act like nothing happened. Like she could still be in my life with ease.

Well, reality check, she couldn't. Just because she acted like an actual mother now didn't get rid of the horrible memories. It didn't erase all of the drinking and smoking and stealing she did.

It didn't erase the scars of abuse.

I hugged my cow plush to myself, the only gift I had ever recieved from my father. I layed back down and took deep breaths until I stopped shaking. As I closed my eyes, I kept thinking about the music club, or more specifically, Hinata.

My only friend.

Everyone in my life had always pushed me away. My grade school classmates, my family, and especially my band mates. But Hinata, despite the few angry encounters, had done nothing of the sort. He stuck to my side at all times even defended me.

Hinata was someone I didn't want to lose. He made me feel happy, for once in my life.

My first real friend.
