Kenma planned to do the set-up the same as last night. He went through the cabinets to look for an extra blanket and pillows and Kokoe just stood behind him, watching him eagerly.

"You seem to be in a good mood today," he commented.

"You think so?"

"You're not frowning."

"Well, I have a new town to explore. No one's hostile either. And now, I have a place to stay," she explained as Kenma turned around with the blanket and pillows on his hand.

His eyes widen for a bit upon seeing her subtly smiling. "That's new," he mumbled.

"What is?"

"Nothing," he said and walked to the side of his bed. She continued tailing him, having nothing else to do.

"Kenma? Are you asleep already?" he heard his mother's voice.

"Shit," he cursed, followed by a click of his tongue.

Just outside his room, his mother's footsteps were gradually getting louder. She had just turned off the lights of the living room and kitchen and now his room was the only one lit up. The small space under his door made it obvious.

"Kenma?" she mumbled while she twisted the door knob. "I told you-" she continued, but  paused upon seeing her son tucked in bed. He was only facing sideways so she looked at the desk to check. He had the tendency to fake sleeping and still play.

"Well, his console's already off," she told herself.

"Good night, Kenma," she spoke before turning off the light.

Unknown to her, of course, was the other person in the room, lying next to him. Though his mother already left, he still had his arms embracing her to keep her close.

"I just need her to keep quiet," he justified to himself.

Before he could even think of letting her go or at least loosen his grip on her, his mother abruptly opened the door again, double checking if it was one of his tricks. She could vividly remember how he'd pretend to sleep whenever she would check then play games afterwards.

"Alright, alright, good night for real," his mother softly chuckled.

"That was close," he sighed.

He looked at her before slowly loosening his hold on her. She didn't say a word, much less make a sound.

"Did she try those silly silencing spells again?" he asked himself. "Don't tell me she fell asleep."

"Hey," he whispered, slightly shaking her.

"Hey," he repeated.

"You can't sleep on my bed, you know," he added. "And I can't sleep on the floor either."

He let go of her, a little annoyed, a little flustered.

"Hey," he mumbled and tapped on her cheek.

As his fingertips brushed through her skin, he's once again taken by surprise. This time, it was her temperature that bothered him.

To call her ice cold would be an exaggeration but she didn't seem much human either. Her face, to begin with, wasn't human. She was customized after all, from head to toe.

"They really tried to make you perfect," he commented, observing the perfect angle of her nose, along with the alignment of her other features. This was the closest look he'd had on her.

"You had a long day, huh," he sighed, recalling how she said she hasn't even eaten. Well, her lack of hunger wasn't human too.

"I'll let it pass. Just for today," he said, still staring at her sleeping face.

"Good night then."

He turned to the opposite side to get out of bed but just as he was about to leave, he left an arm restraining him.

"Wh- What?" he gasped and quickly froze.

Kenma's face was already flushed without him knowing, but he was sure the room was getting hotter.

"Idiot, I'll kick you out if you keep this up."

Her embrace loosened but that didn't help the already flustered boy. He hurriedly got out of bed and stared at her with a mix of shock and embarrassment.
