"So is there anything new that's been going on?" Asked miss Jacobs with a huge smile. "Nothing really happened." I lied.
"Have you talked to Rexanne yet?" She asked. "Nope. I don't understand why I have to talk to the person who hurt me. She won't even care about what I have to say and it's not like I want to talk to her anyway. I don't want to remember all the shit I went through when we were friends. So I won't be talking to her."
"You need closure Ashley. You can't keep keeping these feelings to yourself." She walked towards me but before she got too close I stood up and ran out of her office. Everything was coming back. All my anger and hurt, about to show for everyone to see. I quickly ran to the bathroom, locked the door and ran into a bathroom stall.
Why did she do that to me.
I thought we were friends, that she cared about me.
Because of her it's hard fo me to make real connections with people.
I won't talk to her!"Are you okay in there?" Asked the unfamiliar voice. I huriedly wiped my tears and opened the door. "How the hell did you get in here? I locked the door." I pushed her aside so I could leave the stall and look at myself in the mirror. "You locked me in with you." She walked up to the mirror, and looked at me. I rolled my eyes and left the bathroom.
That was weird.
Next time I should make sure that there's no one in the bathroom first. The rest of the day was long and boring. When school finally ended I went to my locker and put some books in my bag.
I have so much homework!
Well you better get going then.On my way home I saw Brandon. "Hey there stranger, how have you been?" He said with a very adorable smile. "Not too good. But I'll be fine." I answered. "You can tell me what happened while I walk you home, if you want." He walked towards me. "I don't really want to talk about it, but you can walk me home."
You should tell him.
No I don't want him knowing everything about me.
Okay but atleast tell him about that weird girl in the bathroom.
But he'll ask why I locked the door in the first place.
Just make something up."So today something really weird happend." I said trying to break the silence. "Really, what happened?" He asked curiously. "I went to the bathroom and locked the door because I wanted to be alone. But I ended up locking someone else with me." I chuckled at how stupid the story I made up was. "Then what happened?" He looked at me with curiousity in his eyes.
"She kept asking if I was okay. Like what gave her the impression that I wasn't fine?" I rolled my eyes. "Maybe the fact that you locked the door." "Yeah, maybe." I nodded my head realizing he was right. "You know what Ashley, I've always wondered how you've managed to keep yourself sane after all the shit you've been through. If I was in your shoes I would have went crazy long ago. What I'm saying is that you're really strong and I'm here for you if you need anything." I looked at him confusingly then looked down at my feet.
I'm not exactly sane. I've just learnt how to hide my demons from everyone. But I'm not going to tell Brandon that.
"Yeah I know. Anyways how've you been since last night?" I asked changing the subject. "I've been okay I guess." He stopped walking and looked at my house. "Looks like we're here." He smiled. "Yeah, thanks for walking me here Brandon." I looked at my feet. I turned around and walked toward my house.
"Do you really have to go in now?"
"Not really. Why?"
"Well I was hoping we could chill a while longer." He scratched the back of his head. "Okay. But can we sit here?" "No problem." He walked to the porch and we sat on the stairs. After a while of us talking I realised it was getting late. "Okay Brandon I have to go in now." I stood up and walked to the door. But before I could open the door he grabbed my arm and gave me a hug. "What's up with all the hugs?" I wanted to push him away.
He stopped hugging me, held me at arms length and looked me straight in my eyes. It made me feel uncomfortable, so I looked down at my feet. "Please stop staring at me, it makes me uncomfortable." I looked at the door. "Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable." He chuckled and let go of me. "It's cool. Just don't do it again." I opened the door and went in before he could say anything else.
Why'd he do that?
Does he think something's wrong with me?
No he was just making sure everything was okay.
I don't like whatever that was.I walked to my room and didn't see Addy, wich was weird because she's always here. "Addilyn?" I went to the living room. I looked all over the house and couldn't find her. "Taisha!" I was starting to panic.
Someone kidnapped her. She must be so scared wherever she is.
I'm sure she's fine calm down."What's your problem?" Taisha looked annoyed. "Have you seen Addilyn? I've looked everywhere I can't find her." I sat on the floor and hugged my knees. "Are you sure she's not here? She went to your room when we came back."
"I looked everywhere!" I looked up at her and a tear rolled down my cheek. "Okay let's go ask the neighbours if they've seen her. They have kids her age so she might have went there to play or something."
I stood up and whipped my tears. "Yeah you might be right." We walked to thier house and Taisha knocked on the door, after a while a handsome man stood in front of us with a huge smile on his face. "Oh, you must me Addilyn's sister and cousin. She's told me a lot about you. Come in Addilyn is playing with my daughter in her room." He closed the door behind us and lead us to the living room.
"Please sit, do you want something to drink?" He stood in front of us. "Uh... I'm okay thanks anyway." I looked up at him with a smile. "I'd love some orange juice." Taisha said with a smirk. When he left to get the juice Taisha tapped me on the shoulder. "Oh my gosh Ashley he's fucking hot. And don't get me started on his smile." She had a weird smile on her face.
"Come on Taisha his married and not to mention his probably fourteen years older than you." I looked at her astonished that she might actually have a crush on this guy. "Don't tell me you don't think his hot." She rolled her eyes. "Whatever, just don't do something stupid." I looked at her hoping she wouldn't flirt with him.
Before she could say anything he came into the living room with a glass of juice in his hand. "Here's your juice." He gave Taisha the juice with a smile. He sat down on the couch next to us. "Oh my name's Bryce by the way." He extended his hand for me to shake. "Um...my name's Ashley and this is my cousin Taisha." I introduced Taisha and myself and shook his hand.
Taisha was about to say something when Addilyn came running into the room with another girl who I guessed was his daughter. "Addy why didn't you tell someone you were leaving, I was so worried." I hugged her for a short time. "Sorry, Taisha looked irritated and I didn't want to bother her." She sat on the couch with Taisha and I. "Oh Ashley this is my friend Parklynn and her dad. And this is my sister Ashley and that's my cousin Taisha." She introduced us.
"Oh hey Parklynn, it's nice to meet you." Taisha said with a smile. "Nice to meet you too." She smiled at her and sat on her dads lap. "We should be going now, it's getting late." I stood up and held Addy's hand.
"Oh okay maybe next time we can have lunch or dinner together." He stood up with Parklynn in his arms and walked us to the door. "That would be great!" Taisha screeched. I rolled my eyes and left not wanting to be in the conversation anymore, if I was even in it.
