Luckily when I walked into the house aunt Laura wasn't there. I quickly walked into my room not wanting to bump in to Taisha or aunt Laura anytime soon.
When I walked into my room I saw Addilyn on her bed reading a book. I couldn't help but smile. "Hey Addy, what you reading."
She looked up from her book with a huge smile plastered on her face. "You're back! You kept your promise."
"Of course I did." I chuckled and threw myself on my bed. "So how was your friends house?" She put her book on her bed and walked up to mine. I tapped th space next to me, and moved over a bit so she could have some space.
"It was fine." I said looking at the ceiling. "What'd you do while I was gone?"
"I went to play with Parklynn from the morning and then her dad dropped me off." She had a huge smile on her face."
"Seems like you had fun?"
"Absolutely, we had pancakes for breakfast and toasted cheese with fish fingers for lunch!" Somehow her smile grew bigger.
"That's great Addy, but why'd you go to Parklynn's house before you ate breakfast?" I sat up and leaned on the head board. "When I woke up I heard aunt Laura talking to someone about what happened last night and she seemed angry. So I took a quick shower and left."
I looked at her wide eyed. "Wait...did you tell aunt Laura you were leaving?"
"Of course I did." She chuckled. She stood up from my bed and went to hers. "I should get back to reading and you should, I don't know...think of how you're going to apologize to aunt Laura."
I looked at her confused. "Why would I apologize, I'm the one who deserves an apology." I said with a huff. "Come on Ashley, you left without telling her where you were going. She was really really worried about you."
"Well I don't care, I'm just tired of her comparing me to mom."
"What was mom like, she passed away when I was so young. I don't remember her." I looked at her with a smile. "Well...she was a lot like you. I mean you have her brains, you're seven and you read at high school level. She had light chocolate skin, and beautiful dark brown eyes. She had curly pitch black hair, just like yours. She was a sweetheart and always tried to make sure everyone around her was happy." I looked down at my hands not wanting Addy to see the tears in my eyes.
"She sounds awesome! And Ashley I wouldn't be this smart if it wasn't for you. You taught me how to read, write, take care of myself and defend myself. You're the reason I'm the person I am today and for that I'm grateful." She kneeled down in front of me and whipped the tears that stained my cheeks. "I love you Ashley, don't ever ever forget that."
"I love you more Addy, I'll always be with you I promise." She nodded and gave me a tight hug. "Okay I have an idea."
"What is it?"
"Okay so...why don't you make dinner for aunt Laura and yourself. And during dinner you guys talk about everything, you know like...tell her the things she does that you don't like or something."
"And where will you and Taisha be?" I scrunched my eyebrows together in confusion.
"We'll go to a diner or something, so you guys can have space. Or we can go to Parklynn's house I'm sure mr Cooper won't mind."
"I think it's better if you go to Parklynn's house, that way I'll know you're safe."
"So what are you going to make for dinner?" She looked at me curiously.
"We'll make chicken and bacon salad. And for dessert chocolate moose."
"What do you mean we?" She chuckled.
"By we I mean you and I. Since you came up with this marvelous idea, you have to help me." I said with a huge grin on my face.
"No thanks, I'm reading my book remember. And not to mention I can't cook so how will I help you." She walked back to her bed, grabbed her book and proceeded to read.
"Come on Addy you have to help! And there's a first time for everything." I said giving her puppy dog eyes.
"No Ashley I'm not helping." She shook her head. "Okay now you'll have to choose, do you want to do this the hard or easy way?" I raised my eyebrows at her.
"You'll have to drag me out of this room or something to make me help you."
I chuckled at her statement stood up from my bed and tickled her. "Stop!" She screeched. "No you have to promise you'll help." I carried on tickling her.
"Okay fine I'll help you just...stop!" She said between laughs.
I stopped tickling her and walked up to the door. "Be down stairs in five minutes or I'll be back." I said before walking out of the room.
