3rd Person POV

Nine Years Later

Ryan's and Alice's house

"Get back here, you little squirt," Ryan called as he chased after his daughter, the first Blacklight miracle, who giggled as she ran away from him.

"Nope!" she sang, golden-brown eyes glinting as the six-year-old ducked around the corner and jumped off the porch.

Ryan sighed as he dashed around it and looked up as Lily leapt up to the top of a tree branch and sat there, brown hair waving in the wind as she giggled at him.

"Get down here," Ryan ordered, smiling.

"Nope!"

"Don't make me come up there."

Lily giggled and jumped off, catching herself using a pair of Whipfists and impaling them into the tree before swinging down into her father's arms.

"You are one mischievous girl," Ryan said as he cradled her in his arms.

"Lily making trouble again?" Alice asked, stepping outside with their son, Shawn, the second Blacklight miracle, in tow.

"You know it," Ryan replied.

Lily stuck her tongue out at him.

"Where'd you learn to do that?" Ryan demanded playfully.

"Probably from her aunt," Alice said, holding Shawn's hand. The young Evolved/vampire hybrid smiled up at her, silver eyes glinting. "Can I go spar with Lily?" he pleaded.

"Fine, just make sure not to impale each other," Alice conceded.

Smiling, silver and black jacket flapping in the summer wind, Shawn dashed over to his sister, a pair of curved Blades forming on his arms.

Lily yelped and jumped onto a tree and kicked off it.

Landing in a roll, she somersaulted around behind it and peeked, only to dodge out of the way as Shawn's Blade hit the bark where her face had been.

Forming Whipfists, Lily blocked Shawn's Blade and tackled him, and the two siblings started wrestling.

"Remind me why it was a good idea to let Alex train them?" Alice requested.

Ryan came up from behind her and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her cheek. "Mainly because it was my idea."

"That's probably not it," Alice said.

Ryan pouted, and Alice laughed.

Shaking his head, Ryan looked out toward Shawn and Lily as the former chased Lily around the yard, Lily using her Whipfists to swing from branch to branch and avoid him.

"Hey, you two want to head down to the beach?" Ryan called.

"Beach time!"

Both children immediately went inside to change.

"How long do you think until they remember they can shapeshift?" Ryan asked.

"Not long," she replied.

Timeskip

After they finally got ready, the Mercer family headed down to the beach and found Jace and Asteria there along with their son, Raytheon.

"Hey, guys," Jace called, splashing Raytheon while Asteria watched. "Where's Azara?"

"Right here." Azara stepped out, Jasper at her side. She whistled, and five wolves ran out of the trees, transforming into three girls and two boys.

"Where were you five?" Jasper asked.

One of the boys grinned cheekily. "Just getting ready for the party." He hid a water gun behind his back.

"Hand it over, Jake," Azara ordered.

Jake pouted, but handed it over.

"You too, Steve."

Steve pouted and tossed her his gun as well.

"You three as well," Jasper stated. "Dawn, don't think I don't see that water pistol. Eclipse, Luna, put the balloons down."

The girls pouted but handed over their weapons. Jasper set them aside.

"Haven't I taught you better?" Azara asked. "If you're going to do it... take these." She handed them each a large water gun. "The cannons are over there." She yanked a hidden rope, and some of the foliage dropped away, revealing three cannons with stacks of water balloons.

"How'd you do that?" Ryan asked.

Azara shrugged. "Plot convenience. Now go blow those three out of the water," she instructed, pointing over at Jace, Asteria, and Raytheon.

"By the way," Azara whispered to Ryan. "If it ever gets out of hand, let me know."

"Will do," Ryan laughed. "Wait, where are you—"

Jasper tilted his head. "You gave them cannons?"

"Yep!" she grinned. "Have fun!" She grabbed Jasper's hand, and they both dived behind a boulder as her kids fired the cannons.

Ryan formed his shield, which protected him and Alice, but Lily, Shawn, Raytheon, Jace, and Asteria got soaked.

Lily grinned and formed her Whipfist. "It's on." Lashing out, she snagged the pile of water pistols and caught them. "Raytheon, do your thing."

Raytheon grinned and summoned his rigging, four turrets appearing on either side of him.

"Return fire!" Lily shouted, and Shawn loaded Raytheon's barrels with water balloons.

Raytheon fired, soaking all five werewolves.

As the eight of them started battling, Ryan shook his head and sat down on the beach's sand. "Remind me why it was a good idea to come to the beach today?"

"It wasn't," Alice pointed out, sitting down next to him and kissing him on the cheek. "But on the bright side, at least you thought it was a good idea to come to Forks."

"True that," Ryan agreed as Alice rested her hand on his.

Together, they looked out across the ocean as the sun set below the horizon.

They called me a killer, a monster, a terrorist. These are parts of who I am. But now I am a survivor, a husband, a father. And I can't think of any better fate than that.

The End.
