The ears Vivi wanted^^

Also you all are going to hate this chapter.

*Vivian's P.O.V*

I looked at Coral who raised her eyebrow and shook her head. "I need them though," I whined as she pulled me away from the display case.

"You do not need them, you want them," Coral said simply as she wrapped her arm around my waist to keep me from running off. "And you just got a pair of ears, you do not need another pair," she stated.

"But I only got ears for my kitten side and not my puppy side. How can I ever be a happy puppy without them?" I questioned giving her puppy dog eyes in hopes that she would give in.

"Find a pair you like then," Coral sighed as she let me go, looking down at the list she had made. She had agreed to take me shopping for more things on one of the less busy days in the kingdom. I smiled as I looked at all the sets of ears that I could get, bouncing slightly out of excitement . I squeaked when I felt Coral's hand on my arm and turned to look at her. "Calm down angel," she said as she kissed my forehead.

"They're all so pretty," I whispered as I turned to look at the sets of headband ears and clip on ears. I wandered down the aisle as Coral followed me, sighing after a little bit.

"You keep looking kitten and I will be right back. I need to get something," she stated simply, causing me to frown slightly.

"What are you going to get huh? Tell me," I said as I grabbed onto her arm and clung to her, looking up at her with a pout. "Please?" I added as I stuck my lower lip out dramatically.

"Nope," she shook her head as she kissed the top of my head. "It has to be a surprise," she stated simply. "Now stay here, I am leaving a guard with you so behave for a moment," she said, making me glance at the guard with a frown.

"So I can misbehave once you get back?" I questioned her while glancing back at her. She sighed but nodded after a moment with a soft smile. I grinned as I kissed her cheek before going back to looking at the ears that I could get. Her shadow passed over me for a moment before I heard the guard step next to me. I glanced at the guard before continuing my search, surprised when I heard someone approach us.

I looked to the side for a moment and saw the person standing close to me, the guard trying to move between us. The person was wearing a hood and a mask that covered their face which seemed to make the guard uneasy. I watched from the corner of my eye as the guard rested their hand on their weapon. I wasn't quite sure why he was so nervous, we were right next to the entrance of the store so it wasn't uncommon for people to be close by.

"Do you think Coral would let me get an ear and tail set?" I asked the guard curiously while picking up the set that I wanted. It had a white ear and a black ear with a black and white tail. I frowned when I heard a thump from beside me. The guard was on the ground and my eyes immediately went to the person next to us who dropped something from their hoodie. Smoke started rising from it and I went to move back, dropping the set of ears and backed away.

The person moved much quicker and I felt something cold pressing against my neck. "Easy girl, I'd hate to have to kill you," the person said as the smoke enveloped us. The smoke made my eyes water as I blinked my eyes closed.

"Who are you?" I questioned, feeling the object pressed to my throat sink into my skin slightly. I coughed slightly as I leaned back against the shelves, the cold shelves digging into my back. "Let me go!" I said as I covered my eyes, trying to block out the smoke. My other hand covered my mouth as I started to feel panic set in.

"Look at me," the person said as they jerked my hand away from my eyes with their free hand. They jerked their mask off and I was staring into a gaze that was similar to Coral's but had a dark gleam to them. A gleam that sent chills down my spine. "I want you to remember me. I want you to live in fear of me every day, live with the fear that I will be back. My sister will have to live with the idea of knowing that her pet will one day die in her arms," the person, that I now knew was Curtis, smirked slightly.

I felt the metal of the knife cut through my collar, letting it fall to the ground as I tried to grab it. The smoke started to clear above us and Curtis smirked, letting me go.

"Remember me, remember the fear that I installed in your heart," Curtis informed me, pulling the knife up and pressing it against my cheek. "A memento to remember me by," a sick chuckle escaped Curtis as the knife pressed into my cheek, dangerously close to my eye. I felt the warm blood trickle as the mask was pulled down before Curtis disappeared into the smoke. I heard another thing of metal hit the ground, the smoke thickening again. I covered my mouth and closed my eyes, sinking to the ground. I don't know how long I stayed on the ground, my body shaking as I felt someone touch my arm.

"Vivian, what happened?" Coral's voice said, sounding distant. My eyes opened and I stared at her face through the light amount of smoke still in the air. "Love, what happened to the guard? Where did the smoke come from? You're bleeding," she said, sounding concerned as she cupped my face and helped me up.

"C..cur...curtis," I whispered as the world seemed to spin and I felt lightheaded. I clutched her shirt as I felt my knees buckle, my world going dark.

"Vivian," Coral's voice seemed to echo in my mind as I collapsed against her before the world slipped away completely.
