Arachne didn't die when you, Ladybug, Chatnoir, King Bee and Tabby Noir went to the portal. The knife was only used to capture a Kwami from the holder. After Hawkmoth took Arachne's Kwami and found out who her identity is, he kept her hostage to use against the heroes. The reason why Arachne was sorry was because she wants Marinette to tell her friends her secret because it's been bothering her ever since Marinette obtains the Ladybug miraculous. Marinette already told Alya, but she thinks that it will cause her anxiety if she tells her other friends about it.
