"What? Why, Saihara-chan? I don't want to lose my favorite friend-"

"Shut up!" Shuichi had climbed out from under the covers, his head still covered. Kokichi froze when he saw his face.

Shuichi was pale, his red eyes and tear-soaked cheeks sending goosebumps down Kokichi's back. "What happened to you, Saihara-chan?"

Kokichi looked anxiously at the young detective, who just sobbed again and wiped his face with the back of his hand. "Nothing", was his only answer. "That's the stupidest lie I've ever heard", the Ultimate Liar replied.

Shuichi remained silent. There he sat on his bed, covered with a blanket and full of tears, while his crush, only 30cm away from him, was able to see everything. That's exactly what he never wanted.

After neither of them had made even the slightest sound for several minutes, Kokichi finally got up. "Okay, I guess I'll leave you alone-"

"Ouma." Shuichi reached out and clang onto the sleeve of the Ultimate Supreme Leader's jacket.

"May I ask you for a favor?" he whispered, his desperate gaze going into the void.

"Sure", Kokichi simply replied, looking at the detective with curious eyes.

"May I... embrace you?"

Kokichi blushed and nodded slightly, not able to say something before Shuichi pulled his classmate onto the bed and wrapped his arms around the little Supreme Leader. Shuichi's body was hot, presumably because he had been lying under the blanket and crying by himself for quite a while.

"Saihara-chan. Don't sweat the small stuff, you'll develop worry wrinkles if you do that", Kokichi giggled, gently patting Shuichi's cheek. Then he put his narrow arms around him, reciprocating the hug. The Ultimate Detective buried his face on Kokichi's shoulder, staying silent and enjoying the closeness to his crush.

It felt good to finally be close to Kokichi after the long while of avoiding him. Although Kokichi had no idea why Shuichi was crying, he did not ask any questions. He just held him in his arms, patting his back here and there until Shuichi's sobs wore off. Then he retreated from his classmate and looked down.

"Hey, Saihara-chan. You're important to me, I don't want you avoid me, okay?" Kokichi softly asked. "Is this one of your lies again?" was all Shuichi answered. But the Ultimate Supreme Leader was not in the mood to lie in such a situation.

"No, that's not a lie."

Shuichi reached over to his bedside table to get a pack of handkerchiefs. He pulled out a few and wiped his nose.

Kokichi giggled, took a tissue from the detective's hand and carefully wiped his eyes. They weren't quite as red as they were a few minutes ago, but he definitely looked exhausted.

"Do you want to tell me what's going on?" Kokichi continued to wipe Shuichi's eyes, who finally turned his gaze to his classmate.

"You wouldn't understand that anyway," the detective replied coolly.

"Ouch, that hurt." Kokichi grabbed his heart, faking pain before putting the used handkerchiefs on the bedside table and getting closer to the detective.

"Come on, I won't tell anyone. Maybe I can help you?" An encouraging grin surrounded his lips, and he looked up to Shuichi with innocent eyes.

This one just sighed. "I'm in love. But the person I love will never return my feelings. What exactly about this could you change, huh?"

The Ultimate Supreme Leader didn't expect that. As a leader, he often had to solve problems of many kinds, but the fact that his favorite friend was in love had not come to his mind in the slightest.

"Hmmm... Well, did you ask her if she likes you?" Shuichi sighed again, louder this time and got up from the bed, pulling back the curtains at his windows.

"No, and I won't ask...her, either. I'd rather give up my love", he replied, visibly annoyed that Kokichi was completely on the wrong track. But he kind of expected that.

"Maybe it's better this way." Kokichi's words cut Shuichi directly into the heart. He was about to turn around to him and scream something when Kokichi added onto his previous sentence.

"Boys are much better to date than girls anyway, and if you had a girlfriend, I'd be all alone", the Ultimate Supreme Leader played around with Shuichi's cap, presumably to hide his embarrassment. Despite a seemingly tough and naughty exterior, this was not a lie, and the fact that he forced himself to not say something like 'that's a lie' made this even more clear.

"What do you mean by that?", the detective asked curiously. Kokichi groaned and turned his gaze away. "Just the way I said it. As for me personally, I'd rather be with a boy than with one of those chicks in our class." Then he suddenly jolted up and crossed his arms behind his head.

"Nee-hehe. You didn't expect that, hmmm? Well, I'm gonna go. Let me know if you want to do something together." With these words he turned to the door and disappeared.

The detective was still standing at the window, his cheeks deep red, his broken heart healed from the words of the boy he loved.

A/N: I thought the cliffhanger in the last chapter was a little too much, so here's the rest of the conversation to soothe your Oumasai loving soul UwU This story is getting so long it takes me a while to translate it all into English and post it, so I apologize for the slow uploads. I'm far from done though, so I hope you look forward to reading it! <3
