I knew this would happen. I knew they would find out we were gone. Why wouldn't they? It's not like they don't check the rooms. We should have thought this through more. My heart was racing super fast, and I could hardly breathe. I heard the doors open, and a man ran over to us. "Callum? What are you doing here?"
"I'm helping you escape. Come on, we gotta go. I got my three roommates in the front." We all hopped out of the ditch, and followed Callum.
Callum was in the lead with Hannah right behind him. Me and Isabelle were running side by side, and Juliana was falling behind. We turned a corner, and when I looked back, Juliana was gone. "Guys!" They looked back slowing down. "Where did juliana go?" I said, my voice shaking. "I don't know but we need to keep going we can't stop running!'' Callum shouted. Tears filled my eyes as we ran farther down the hall. I can't believe we just left her there. I heard more footsteps behind us, and when I looked back, five guards were right behind us. "Stop running! You can't leave, it's not safe, just go back to your rooms!" They wouldn't give up on chasing us. "Come on guys were almost there!" Screamed Callum. I wiped more tears off my face, and rubbed my nose. Our shoes were squeaking against the dirty tiled floor, making loud squeaking noises. We made our way to the front door, which was being held open by Callums roommates. All of us slid through, and ran. We didn't stop running, because the guards were still right behind us. "How much longer can they chase us?" I screamed out of breath. "I'm not sure b-but, we have to keep going," Callum screamed back. We turned a corner, and ran into the woods. I saw the guards run past us. Good. We lost them.
I was happy to be out but, what about my mom. The reason we even did this was to explore the place not escape. I was hoping to find where they kept everyone else but I guess I won't know now. My mind was going back and forth between decisions. Should I keep going? Or find my mom who I haven't seen or spoken to in 4 years. "You okay?" Callum asked me. "You look confused."
"Oh im fine, i'm just thinking about how weird that place was.." I laughed awkwardly. "Ya it was weird but I mean, were out now so it's fine."
"What if it's not fine though." I looked up at him. He had a scrunched face like he didn't know what I was saying. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, what if we should have stayed and not left. I kind of wanted to find my mom, but I never got the chance to. I just wanted to know if she was okay.." He looked ahead and sighed. "Well Riley, I know you miss her, but we can't go back now." I sighed. "I know."
"Hey Callum come here for a sec!" One of his friends called for him. "I'll see you later, bye." He caught up with his three roommates, and Isabelle came over to me. "Do you think escaping was a bad idea?" Isabelle glanced over at me. "I don't think so. I think we made the right choice." Hannah, Isabelle and I all walked together well the four boys led the way. "Do they know where they're going? Like do we have a specific place we're running away to?" Singed Hannah. "Not sure, i'm just kind of following them." I signed, shrugging.
