"Mother! Father!" Maria yelped helplessly as she ran faster than she had ever had the need to run before. The deep fuzzy maroon carpets with golden trimming that had been ever so carefully laid by the maids of the castle shifted enormously beneath Maria's quickened pace as the young princess descended down the spotless stairs of her home. Her lips pursed as she held her breath expecting a response from her dear parents... but the poor girl got no answer.

Reaching the end of the seemingly endless amount of staircases Maria was greeted to her beloved castle's main hall. All of the lights were out and there was minimal signs of struggle at a glance. Though, Maria still grimaced, any sign of struggle should not be ignored. Especially when  two people in possession of extreme power were missing. Maria frozen when the grand entrance doors behind her creaked and golden sunlight slowly poured in. The sunlight shifted and expanded as the doors slowly opened. The sunlight felt warm and should've been comforting on her back. It was nearly foreboding. Soon enough she could hear determined yells from behind.

"It's the princess!"

"Get her!" Maria felt something hard slam against her head. She couldn't recall what happened after that.
