Winter Ranger (Book 1)

Prologue

"Happy 3-year anniversary Karl!" Layla says as she runs up and hugs her boyfriend of 3 years now, Karl. He gives her a peck on the lips as they began walking in the park.

"I... I have a question Lay." Karl asks, nervous.

"Of course, Karl! You can ask me anything." Layla smiles at Karl, making him blush a bit. 

"Layla, we've been together for 3 years now. And I want to be with you for our whole lives and maybe even start a family. Vex will be defeated soon. What I'm saying is.... Layla Smith... Will you marry me?" Karl asks as he gets down on one knee as he says the last line. 

"O-Of course I will Karl Rove!"  Layla says with pure happiness as she starts crying. She was finally engaged to the man of her dreams. Karl slips the ring on Layla's ring finger as they shared a kiss. At 21 years old, they got engaged.

They soon returned home to share the good news to their friends and Karl's parents. Layla's parents having passed away 2 years ago. 2 weeks later, Layla finds out she is pregnant but before she can tell Karl, they were summoned into battle to defeat Vex once and for all.

"IT'S MORHING TIME!" Layla shouts.

"HIDDEN FORCE, GO!" The team of 5 shout. 

"Red Hidden Force Ready!" Layla says as she poses with a hand on her hip, a hand over her forehead, as if she was saluting, and she is in a lunge with her right leg forward with her left leg behind her.

"Blue Hidden Force Ready!" Karl says as he poses with his left hand on Layla's shoulder. He's on the left side of Layla. Right leg is extended diagonally to the right. Left leg is behind him a bit. His right hand is on his hip. 

"Yellow Hidden Force Ready!" Taylor, a friend of theirs, says as she poses behind Karl with her right hand on her forehead as she salutes and is a lunge position with her right leg in front of her. Her left hand is on Karl's shoulder. 

"Black Hidden Force Ready!" Mark, another friend and Layla's brother-in-law, says as he poses to the left of Taylor with his left leg in front of him in a lunge position. He has his right hand on Taylor's Shoulder and is also saluting with his left hand.

"Pink Hidden Force Ready!" Kayla, twin sister to Layla, says as she poses in front of Mark, her husband. Her left leg is in front of her in a lunge position with her right hand on Layla's shoulder and is saluting with her other hand. 

"Hidden Force Ready!" The five of them say in unison. They all then charged in and began to fight Vex in the final battle. Hours pass and Vex was finally defeated, however, this victory came with a cost.

"KAYLA!" Layla screamed as she saw her twin sister lying not too far from where Layla stood.

"Lay .*cough* Take the folding zord and follow in mom's footsteps. For her and for me, sis." Kayla says. 

"No, please don't die!" Layla cries.

"I'm sorry sis. I love you." Kayla says as she takes her last breath.

"Kayla!" Layla screams.

"L-Lay..." Was what Layla heard and she rushed over to her fiancé's side.

"D-Don't leave me Karl! Please!" Layla cries out.

"I'm s-sorry my sweet cookie. *cough* P-Please don't cry. Stay strong. *cough* For me and for all of us. We will be watching over you dear. *cough* I love you babe." Karl says as he starts to take his final breath.

"Wait no! Karl, I have something to tell you! I love you and our unborn child." Layla says as Karl took his final breath just as she told him she was pregnant. "K-Karl? KARL!!" Layla continued to cry and mourn for her fiancé, sister, brother-in-law, and friend. And with that, she passed out, from exhaustion and from her injuries.

Time skip

Layla awakes in the Hidden Force base's infirmary a month later and is still upset from what had happened. Layla heads home to packs her things, and leaves without saying a word. She was scared. She was scared she would lose someone else. She also made a vow to herself to never get involved with the ranger business unless she really had to. Layla knew that you don't chose the power, it chooses you. Layla then moved to Blue Bay Harbor, a place she hasn't been to in a long time.

8 months later, her child was born.

"AHHHHH!" Layla screamed as she pushed. She was currently in the hospital, in labor.

"One more push!" The doctor encouraged.

"Wahhhhhh!" Were the cries of a baby girl as Layla gave one last push. Once her baby girl was cleaned, Layla got to see her beautiful baby.

"What would you like to name her Ms. Smith?" The doctor asks.

"Zoey... Zoey Kayla Smith is her name..." Layla replies with a tired smile, naming her daughter with her middle being her twin's name.
