Winter Ranger (Book 1)

4 - Storm Before the Calm Part 2

 "This can't be how it ends." Shane says with a grunt as we were trying to move some rubble.

"Woah. What happened here?" Blake asks as he and Hunter entered Ninja Ops. 

"You guys made it!" Dustin grins as we all walked up to them and gave them a hug.

"Though you would be toast for sure."

"Vexacus destroyed the Thunder Megazord so we ejected." 

"Where's Cam?" Hunter asks.

"Don't know." Shane replies.

"Sensei?"

"Lothor got here before we did." Dustin supplies. "We're too late."

"Better late than never. I always say." Came a familiar voice. We all turned and saw Sensei.

"Sensei!" Tori, Dustin, and Shane say as they went to hug him. "Your okay!"

"It's good to see you. Finally."

"Yeah, your like, totally normal." Dustin comments.

"When Lothor blasted me with his energy, it allowed me to turn into my human form." Sensei explains.

"But, where is Cam?" Tori asks.

"He has been captured." Sensei answers.

"We'll get him back Sensei." Tori says.

"It will not be easy Tori. My darkest fears have come to pass. Lothor is preparing to open the Abyss of Evil."

"Are you serious? I just thought that was Ninja Folklore." Blake comments.

"It is no coincidence that Blue Bay Harbor is home to the Wind Ninja Academy. We are the guardians of an invisible gateway. A gateway that once opened will allow all the evil from the ages gone by to escape." Sensei explains.

"Then why hasn't Lothor opened it before now?" Shane asks.

"The Abyss can only be opened when it's filled to capacity. Even then can only be opened by a mighty force."

"The Samurai Amulet." Tori comments.

"Yes. I believe Lothor intends to use Cam powers to open the Abyss and allow the army of evil to enter our world." Sensei informs us.

"We have to stop the abyss from opening. There has to be a way."

"We need help. Ninja help." Blake states.

"Where will gonna find that?" Shane asks.

"Lothor's ship. Every ninja on the planet is locked up there." Hunter answers.

"We could take the Dragon Force vehicle." Dustin says.

"Wait. Blake and I should go alone. We've been onto Lothor's ship. We know where to look for the others."

"The Dragon Force vehicle is in the zord bay. Be careful. And thank you for your courage." 
"You can thank us when we come back."

"Yeah, let's go."

"I keep thinking it's my fault."

"That's crazy. How could you have done anything differently?" I ask.

"Be a better ranger. If we destroyed Lothor sooner, none of this would've happened."

"Do you guys ever think that if we haven't been late to class that day, we wouldn't even be power rangers."

"You were always meant to be rangers."

"What do you mean?"

"This is the last entry of the scroll of destiny." 

"Hey it's us!"

"No way." 

"As you can see, you were late, precisely so that you would be the ones to become power rangers."

"And you knew this all along? Why didn't you show us sooner?" Shane asks.

"Would you have believed me had you not learn the truth for yourselves? I have never doubted the scrolls prophecy, and neither should you."

"So what happens next?"

"This is the end of the scroll. It does not say who will be victorious. But that you must only be there to face Lothor at the Abyss of Evil."

"That's where we will be." "Ready?"

"Ready." We all reply to Shane.

"Ninja Storm," 

"Winter Storm,"

"Ranger form. Ha!" We all end together in unison as we morphed. We took out the Tsunami Cycles and rode off towards the Abyss. We fired our lasers at the Kelzacks, who were terrorizing the citizens. We got off our cycles and started to fight.

"I think we found Lothor. Look!" Shane exclaims as we all look up to see a zord that Lothor would be controlling.

"Wow."

"Woah."

"Let's go!" Shane says as he got back on his Tsunami Cycle.

"Yeah." Tori agrees as we followed suit.

"Right."

"The Abyss of Evil!" I say.

"We got to stop it." 

"Yeah."

"This is it. Come on guys!"

"Yeah."

"It's Megazord time!" Shane says into his morpher. We all jumped into the cockpits of our zords. Their zords combined into a megazord as my zord turned into a megazord.

"Ready rangers?" Shane asks as our zords finished turning to megazords.

"Yeah!"

"Ready."

"Yeah, let's do it!" We then started to fight Lothor in our Megazords. 

"This is the most fun I've had all season!" Lothor exclaims. "Taste your defeat!" We had combined both of our megazords into one but we were still losing as we were now on the ground underneath Lothor's zord.

"Never!" Shane exclaims. "Fire!" We managed to defeat Lothor's megazord but he also took us down with him.

"Eject!" We all jump out of our megazord.

"The megazord! It's gone!" We then all ran towards the Abyss of Evil.

"What's happening?"

"I don't know." I answer.

"Not good."

"They're back!"

"Hahahahaha! How does it feel to fail rangers?"

"You should know."

"Not this time."

"Ready?" Shane asks. We all nod as we took out our swords (or in my case Katanas).

"Destroy them!" Lothor orders. We charged into the battle as do the monsters. What I didn't know was that one of the monsters saw Zoey hiding close by, as she was scared and had lost her babysitter in all the chaos. We continued fighting against Lothor and his forces.

"My sword!" Dustin cries out as a monster kicked out his sword from him. We all lost our weapons as the monsters kicked them away from us or we had dropped them because the monsters made us drop our weapons. The monsters then started to surround us as we now had our backs against one another. Then out of nowhere, a blast came and shot at the monsters.

"Mind if I came through?" Hunter asks.

"You will never stop me!" Lothor exclaims.

"But we will." Blake says. Behind him were the Ninja students that were locked up on Lothor's ship.

"Awesome!"

"Yeah!"

"Battlizer!"

"Kelzacks! Attack!" We all charged at the Kelzacks, alongside the Ninja students.

"Time to split! Ready?" "Oh yeah!"

"Battlizer Flight Mode!" "Fire!" Lothor then blasts at Shane and he loses his Battlizer.

"Shane!" We all yell as we rush over to him.

"He destroyed the Battlizer."

Hunter's POV a couple minutes ago 

"Help!" Me and Blake hear a young female scream and we saw a kid about 4 years old being taken hostage by one of the monsters. "I want my mommy!" 

"Blake." I instruct.

"Right." Blake agrees like he read my mind. We fought through the monsters and over to the kid and saved her.

"Are you alright?" I ask, setting her down on the ground, out of harm's way.

"Mhm. T-Thank mister." 

"Where are your parents?" Blake asks.

"I don't know where mommy is, but I lost my babysitter." The kid sniffs.

"Alright, well stay here for now. We'll come back and we can help find your babysitter or mom." I tell the kid.

"O-Okay." She stays put and stays hidden as we run back into the fight with the others.

Layla's POV present time

Lothor flips in front of us, and we all got into fighting stances. Lothor made the first move and we started to fight him. Tori and Dustin flip away as Lothor blasted at them. Shane rushes in front of them and takes his stance to protect his injured friends. Lothor then blasts at Shane causing quite a bit of damage to him before Shane couldn't take it anymore and he falls to the ground, injured.

"Enough." Lothor states as he holds up Cam's amulet. "Time to finish you all. Give me those ranger powers!" Lothor uses the amulet to take away our ranger powers.

"I can't take it!"

"Ahh!"

"It's too much!" Me, Blake, and Hunter demorph and fall to the ground.

"Nothing can stop the power of the amulet."

"I believe that belongs to me." Cam says as he drops in out of nowhere.

"Not anymore. Ha!" Lothor then blasts at Cam. "Goodbye nephew."

"He's not going anywhere." Shane states as he, Tori, and Dustin run in front of Cam. "You got it?!"

"Fine, I'll take you in his place." Lothor then uses the amulet once again to take away Shane, Tori, and Dustin's ranger powers and they demorph and fall to the ground.

"You fools! Have you not had enough?" Lothor asks as we all regrouped together. "Ha!" He then blasts at us. "Let's finish this." Everyone got into a fighting stance and charged at Lothor. We were definitely getting our butts kicked by Lothor. Tori, Dustin, and Shane then got up and charged at Lothor, which was pretty stupid if you ask me though.

"Hahaha! I have your ranger powers! You are at my mercy, once and for all."

"We won't let you win."

"What can you do to me without your powers?"

"We might now be power rangers, but we still have power!" Shane states. "Power of Air!"

"Power of Earth!" Dustin follows.

"Power of Water!" Tori follows as well. 

"Ninja powers!" They say while me and the others were in awe at what they could do.

"No! Ahh!" Lothor exclaims as Tori, Dustin, and Shane use their Ninja Powers to push Lothor into the Abyss of Evil and seal it once and for all. We got up and walked over to Tori, Dustin, and Shane.

"What happened?" Tori asks.

"Lothor's evil. He must've overloaded the Abyss."

"Causing it to implode on itself."

"So he's gone? Really gone?" Dustin asks.

"I believe so." What we didn't see was that my babysitter had found Zoey and they went back to my apartment.

"And our ranger powers?"

"They're gone too."

"Mommy!" Zoey says as she runs up to me. Of course, she would want to see me.

"Sorry, Zoey really wanted to see you Ms. Smith." Ms. Rivera says as she walked up behind. My friends had already gone ahead.

"Ah, no it's fine Ms. Rivera. Thank you for looking after her today though. I appreciate it!" I say with a smile.

"Is mommy, okay?" Zoey asks.

"Mommy okay Zoey. Say, do you want to meet my friends?" I ask.

"Yeah! I wanna see mommy's friends!" Zoey exclaims. Ms. Rivera leaves as I walked over to where my friends were as they were getting ready with Kelly.

"Hey guys! I want you to meet someone." I state as I walked up to them.

"Hi Auntie Kelly!" Zoey says as she waves at Kelly.

"Hi Zoey." Kelly smiles.

"Guys meet my daughter Zoey. Zoey these are my friends Tori, Dustin, Shane, Blake, and Hunter, and Cam." 

Time skip

We were all now walking in the parking lot as Dustin had gotten third place.

"Check it!"

"Dustin. Third place? That's awesome!"

"Yeah, my boy came through."

"I'm so glad you changed to freestyle. You got a real career ahead of you." Kelly says as I carried Zoey.

"You won't believe this. You know the guys from Truth Trucks? They want to sponsor me!" Shane exclaims as he came over to us. We all cheered for him with big grins and complimented him and congratulated him. "National tour and everything!"

"That's awesome!" I then checked the time.

"Ah, Kelly. We have something to do. Can you watch Zoey? We'll be back soon though, promise." I ask.

"Of course." Kelly agrees as I handed Zoey to her before me, and the guys (plus Tori) quickly ran off towards the Academy.

"Shane Clarke." 

"Tori Hansen."

"Dustin Brooks."

"Blake Bradly."

"Hunter Bradly."

"Layla Smith."

"And finally, Cam Watanabe." Everyone then starts to clap for us as we received our Ninja certificates meaning that we had graduated.

"You all have earned the badge of Honor. That is to graduate from the Wind Ninja Academy. I could not be more proud of you. Of the scarifies you have made for your school and indeed for your planet. The world is a better place today because of you." Sensei Watanabe states.

"Yeah!" We all cheer and started to hug each other.

"You guys ready to do this?" Shane asks as we walked towards the entrance of the Wind Ninja Academy. We then congratulated Shane, Tori, and Dustin as they were now Sensei's of the Wind Ninja Academy.
