LANDRY
“Hey, you seem distracted, what’s going on?” I run my hand down Tristen’s back, feeling the tension as I do so.
“It’s just work stuff. I can’t remember if I laid out the plans that the crew is going to need tomorrow morning and now it is driving me crazy.”
“Is that all?”
“What do you want me to say, Landry?”
“I don’t know, be honest with me. Is that too much to ask?”
He sighs and shifts his body on my bed so he’s facing more in my direction, “You know I really like you, Landry…”
“Uh-huh, and I feel a massive but coming from you.”
“I want to support you as my girlfriend and I know you’re really close with Hattie, but her brothers HATE me, Landry.”
I put down my curling iron to give him my full attention, “They don’t hate you, Tristen,” I say with an eye roll. “They are just really closed off people and it takes a lot for them to let their walls down and let new people in. Plus, it isn’t like you’re helping anything when you’re constantly challenging them. There have been times where I’ve felt like we’re a moment away from you guys pulling your dicks out for a measuring contest.”
A small grin pulls at his lips and he shifts once again so he can reach out and take my hips in his hands. I let him pull me between his legs and rest my hands on his shoulders for balance. “I promise that the only person I’m pulling my dick out for is you.” I give him a playful smack on the chest and that gets a bigger smile from him. “I’m not trying to start shit with any of them, baby, but you have to admit it isn’t easy knowing that you were with one of them before we got together.”
“That was a one-time thing, I told you so. Jasper is a man-child and there is no way he can give me what it is that I’m looking for.”
“Mmhmm and what is it that you’re looking for,” his voice drops a few octaves and his hands move closer to my ass that is barely covered by the cotton shorts I’m currently wearing.
“I’m looking for a real man that isn’t trying to play games. Somebody who is a hard worker and isn’t afraid to dedicate himself to one woman. Somebody who is tall, handsome as hell, and knows how to spoil his girl.”
“And how am I doing hitting all those things?”
I lean down and press a sweet kiss against Tristen’s lips, “You’re doing amazing, which is why you’re my boyfriend and I’ve only got eyes for you. It is also the reason why you need to not let the Wilkins Brothers ruffle your feathers so much.”
“I’m trying, but they’re assholes,” he insists.
“Well, I know they’re assholes! I told you that from the beginning. I’m like a little sister to them and they’re trying to act big, bad, and tough in front of you and try and scare you away. Once they realize that you’re not going to be scared away that easily, they’ll back off.”
“For some reason, I don’t think they see you all like the little sister.” He raises his eyebrow at me
“Can we please stop focusing on that? I have been nothing but completely honest with you from the day we met. I told you exactly what happened that led me to that bar on singles night and it has never been a secret. If I wanted to be with Jasper, I wouldn’t have spent this much time in our relationship so far.”
“I know, baby. I’m sorry that I’m being like this. I just can’t help it. I scored the hottest woman in the world and I admit I’m a bit insecure sometimes.”
